My sixteen-month-old son is unusually cranky these days. It doesn't take much to irritate him, he whines a great deal, and is generally miserable. I'm very worried! I tell myself he could just be entering the terrible two stage, but perhaps I should schedule a visit to his doctor. Did any of you have the same problem at this age? Any advice or comments would be useful.

My older son started his "terrible twos" at exactly 16 months. He's 28 months now, and STILL going through them. :) If he's feverish, sneezing, etc. probably best to take him to the doctor or at least call. If he's just cranky, throws toys, says "no" to you all the time, it's probably just the TTs. :)

Most likely he is getting his two year molars. Some kids get them early. Use the orajel swabs, Tylenol infant drops, and Hyland's Teething tablets and see if that helps. None of these things will hurt him if he is not actually teething, but better to try it than paying for a doctor visit.

Take him to the Dr.....he could be teething, or maybe has an ear infection or something like that. Does he have a fever? Or maybe he's already turning into a man--cranky,whiny,miserable

Schedule a doctor app.,but he might have gas my daughter did this around the same age,I had no insurance at the time and rushed her to the emergency room after the second day,and the doctor told me either she was spoiled rotten or gassy and she had gas.

I get whinny and cranky as well.
He is changing and growing, It may be that He is having problems with health, He is frustrated because he can not quite get to tell you whats up.
He does understand you, try some pictures of different things, and feelings have him point out to you his feelings and work to change it for him and you. Be well and be blessed some can not have kids at all. you are doing a good job.

He may have his two year molars coming in. Give him tylenol for a few days, if he is still uncomfortable I would take him to your doctor. He could also have an ear infection and not able to let you know because he is so young.

You just let him know that youll be by his side and try to know his fellings so that you can help him better. The rest.. well, I would have to be a mother to know...!
