Well, you could go all victorian and wear long sleeves, gloves and wide hats with veils on the hottest days of the year. That's a pretty bad way to go, though. Use the highest SPF you can find, they make 50 and even 60 for children (it's tough to find 60, 50 is a better bet) and it's the same stuff they make for adults, just tear-free. There's nothing out there that will really fade a tan. I've tried those bleaching creams, but they don't work, so don't bother. Just stay out of the sun, and wear sunblock every time you leave the house, no matter what.

Exfoliate daily. The only way to get rid of a tan that is already there is to slough off the dead skin cells. It'll still take a while (week or two), but it will help speed up the process. What kind of sunscreen do you use? Try Ombrelle by Loreal, my doc says it's one of the best brands out there!!! Also, be sure you have a high SPF- at least 30!

Why? Most people wish to be tan.(even though it is not good for you) After all their is a HUGE market. Self tanners, tanning salons with their tanning beds, even mist on tanning at the salons!

Seriously though,if you are concerned with the damage it does, you are already to late...it is not the tan that does the damage, it's the sun.

You'll need to avoid the sun. Cover up when out. Watch the Weather on TV for the UV index. Stay indoors when it is high. Use sunscreen that protects from UVA/UVB rays. Also use one with a very high SPF.

Good Luck
