I have been charting my fertility, taking into account my period (Jun11-15), basal body temperature (ovulation Jul3), cervical mucus and positioning (fertile Jun29-3), ovulation test results (positive Jun30-Jul2), and frequency of intercourse (almost everyday Jun16-Jul4). Today is Jul14, about 11 days past ovulation or day 34 of my cycle (my cycle is usually 30-33 days). I still don't have my period although I have symptoms such as moodiness and sore breasts, temperatures are still high above the coverline, cervical mucus and positioning are infertile, and intercourse is about every other day. I took two First Response pregnancy tests today, both with very dark pink control lines and very light pink test lines that are readable from any angle, distance, or lighting. I know the results are possibly positive, but how faint is too faint and are just considered evaporation lines? Should I wait to surprise my husband after I get positive results from a blood test at the doctor's office?

LOL all you want, but I just had to be sure that is was a positive and couldn't wait until I got the blood test results back from the doctor. I performed a mini-science experiment, having my pregnant friend and her non-pregnant husband each take a pregnancy test as control groups. I took another pregnancy test and compared it to a very positive test and a very negative test; mine was kind of in between, meaning that it was not negative and, in fact, was positive. I surprised my husband when we went over to his parent's house during his lunchbreak, having a bouquet of multi-colored daisies sent beforehand. At first he didn't see them, so I told him that his name was on the card and asked who sent him flowers. He was confused at first, but when he read the card, which said "Congratulations! It's a baby!," he looked at me, smiling, and said, "You did this!" I then gave him the three pregnancy tests in a gift bag for positive proof. We are both very happy and are awaiting our new arrival.

It sounds like you have done everything possible to achieve pregnancy. Faint lines can be one of two things (a faulty positive, which would seem strange with the fact that you got the same result twice) and the other more likely is that since you are just barely late your body has not produced enough of the hormones that are produce once fertilization and implantation occur. If your husband is going to be crushed if you find out in a few days that you were wrong, wait until the blood test which will give you a definitive answer. Good Luck!!

As you are experiencing symptoms that are indicative of pregnancy, I would say that the line was most probably a positive! Congratulations!

Also, an evaporation line usually won't show up in the first ten minutes after using the tests. This is why the manufacturer's of the tests say that the results are invalid after a certain amount of time.

I had a really faint positive like you did as well. I went to the doctors that day, and he had me do another urine pregnancy test, which showed up a lot darker line. I would say, if you would like to find out today, try to hold your bladder for 5-6 hours and then test again. Also, buy another test, and do a test with your first morning urine tomorrow morning, when the line should be darker as the hCG in your system would have risen a considerable amount.

I'm going to include the link to a trying to conceive/pregnancy forum that I think you might find useful. It's full of supportive women with boundless knowledge about these issues. I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise.

The lines are faint because you're so excited at the possibility of being pregnat, you jumped the gun by a day or two! I've done it many times!! The good news is, both times I saw a faint line, I was pregnant! If you wait another day or 2 and retest, your HCG level will increase and the line will get darker. I'll feel terrible if I'm wrong, but I think congratulations are in order! Good luck!

I don't believe in false postives. I think the people that get postive tests but end up getting their periods, were pregnant but just had an early loss and didn't know it. IT happens more often than we know!

First, a line IS NOT always a line. Evaporation lines have brought me MANY disappointments. BUT as long as the line was visible within the time limit, then you are pregnant no matter how dark the line is!!

Guess what? You are pregnant and you can tell you husband. It does not matter if the line is faint or it. When I took a hpt with my daughter the same happened to me and I also took two of them. They were about one week apart and the one line was faint both times. Good luck.

I agree with everyone. You're pregnant. My line looked like only half a line but it was because it was so faint. I tested again a day later and it was immediate. Test in the morning. That's when you're hormones in your urine are the strongest.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

A positive test is a positve test, no matter how faint. It just means that you have done the test early!!!!

The same thing happened to me with my son and i was pregnant!!
