i hope people were saying he was telling other guys he was planning to ask me out in front of all his friends and i dont want to go out with him but i don't want to humiliate him so how do i avoid him asking me out? i am sooooo confused

Dont avoid him asking. When he does just make sure he isnt around anyone but u and if he is just ask if u could talk to him alone for a minute

wouldn't it be easier to just go out once with the guy and get it over and done with? you may be surprised , sometimes the guys we think greatly of tend to be worse than what we actually avoid or want to avoid.
Unless he lives in yr neighborhood, just try to not bump unto him. If you really do not at all or cannot stand him just politely and caringly tell him that you really are spoken for or you dont want to go out at the moment thank you very much. But be nice.
If he persists tell him he is harrasing you.
Apparently this works well, it loosk like, at least I've seen that when people dont like what they read or misinterpret or cant even understand much less "imagine right" they love to lash out and harras those whom they think so lowly of. Harrasing is the worst thing a person can do to another one at a "neighbor or friend to friend level". I go away form anybody that harrases me, one can never know if they are crazy enough to come after one.
So just tell him as I said if he doesnt stop it tell him he's harrasing you.
He'll quit you'll see.

WHY ARE U ASKING ABOUT IT if u dont really LIKE him hehe maybe u should look at ur feeling since if u didnt like him u would just not bother just tell him we are friends why ask about it maybe ur feeling but in denial

Keep acting the way you have been, and if he does ask you out (he may not), just say no. "I really like you, but only as a friend."

OMG i had that same problem...Me and my bestfriend who was a guy...we would sit close to eachother at lunch and hug and we're always close to eachother and everybody thought we were boyfriends girlfriend or that we liked eachother...just ignore it
