try www.about.com enter knitting in the search window. i can tell you that you will need a blunt tipped ,large eye needle and the matching yarn. align the seams, and stitch with a basic running stitch thru the end loops of each row. if you call your local yarn shop there is generally someone there that can help you . i actually went to an old folks home to ask around if anyone could teach me to knit. good luck.

The best reference I've seen for seam theory is the online book, "How to Become an 'Expert Knitter'". Seaming starts in chapter 17.
