Teachers should never date students because they may grade them differently than they should. Also most teachers are older and should never have anything to do with anyone under 21.

Just like there are medical ethics about doctor/patient relationship and legal ethics about lawyer/client relationship, there are also ethics regarding teacher/student relationship. There is a natural psychological attachment that the student can build for a teacher because the student may feel like they can better survive by being close to the "expert". There is a specific name for this psychological syndrome (I forget the name--it's not the "Stockholm Syndrome"???).

Because of this natural psychological attachment that the student may have on the teacher, the teacher can easily exploit the student in that psychological state. Therefore, an ethics exist where the teacher should never get physically involved with the student.

Now the line of how involved a teacher gets with the student gets more and more gray when the student is younger, because the younger students have to be more emotionally attached to the teacher to trust the teacher to learn. For example, a kindergarten kid may need a hug from the teacher to reinforce that he is doing the right thing. Or a teacher may have to act as a counselor to straighten out a middle school parent/student conflict. But in all cases, the teacher should be a professional and use their best judgement on what lines to not cross when it comes to physical and emotional contact.

In some states like Texas, it is against the law for the teacher to date the student from high school down. There hasn't been any legal contention if the student is over 18. But that is not to say that a court case may show up soon to contend against that law.

At the college level, sometimes it is assumed that the student is mature enough to understand their own psychological attachments so it may be deemed fair for the teacher/student to date. But from my experience as a college tutor and TA, I noticed that college age girls do not always have the best judgement when it comes to understanding their own emotions, and are just as vulnerable to the teacher/student psychological attachment.

If you are talking about high school and under there are a couple of things wrong with dating your teacher:

1. If the relationship takes the form of physical intimacy (not just intercourse), then the teacher is guilty of lewd molestation, sexual battery, and/or child abuse under the law. This means jail time and a lifetime of being registered as a sex offender.

2. Engaging in a relationship with a student is grounds for dismissal and revocation of his/her teaching certification (s/he can never teach anywhere else ever again).

Always reverse it, if you are 18 (female) and your teacher is in his 40's (male) you might think he had a lot of wisdom to impart on you, he makes you feel special etc...
Now pretend that you are a 40 yr old professor (female) and you want to date an 18 yr old (male) student. Are you really imparting knowledge or just trying to charm your way into his pants?

Logically, the guy is trying to charm his way between your legs and his charm doesn't work on women his own age; so he is trying it out on you.

Depends on how old you are compared to him?
Is he married?
Has he got children?
Has he got a girlfriend you dont know about?
I would advise you to go slow & try & find out about him more before you take any moves on him.
Also if your still at school & say like hes your teacher well I wouldnt go out with him as this can get you both into alot of trouble.
But its abit diffrent if your graduated from school.

why.. ya have one in mind you want to go out with, don't you?? (married ones are definitely out..! There are a lotta dirty minded married professors out there, power hungry after the hot lil co-eds.) It's fairly common (the teachs know it too.. ) for girls to have crushes on male teachers. (Does it work the other way around? hell, we never had any hot looking females in my school.. they all sucked in the looks department.) Anyhow, it's a common fantasy.. You like to think you can go for a 'private meeting' w/ the prof. and suck up for a good grade. It's wrong alright. (You know that already...right? right) lmao
