How important is food and alcohol at a cafe?

Hi.

How important would it be for you to have food and/or alcohol at a coffeehouse that features live music three nights a week?

Would you miss it if it wasn't there?

Which is more important when you're hanging out listening to music, reading, and/or working on your laptop, food, or alcohol?

Food is important -- you need something to go with the coffee! But you can keep it light and fresh.

Alcohol helps get people in the door - but are they the people you really want in your establishment? If you're not serving full meals, I'd say no to the booze -- maybe find out if you can have a "bring your own" policy (I don't know how the law applies).

It will be important to market yourself wisely. You'll probably appeal to people like me who love live music, but hate the bar scene! You may want to contact some singles groups, especially for those over 30 or 40 and host a get-together at your place. Where will you be located?

Food is a definite must but, definitely not for alcohol! I think it would be bad! Kids could go into that coffeehouse with their parents. It would be setting a bad influence for younger kids. Drinking beer in front of them, they might want to do it too!

Alcohol is not important. I never consume it, anyway. But food, is. It's the main thing that makes a cafe, a cafe. I'd miss the food, yes.

Beer would be nice if there is live entertainment but its up to you
