According to David Keirsey (Please Understand Me), there have been virtually the same 4 recognizable temperament types throughout history, referred to by different names. Keirsey calls his "Artisan", "Idealist", "Guardian" and "Rational"

A seed may sit dormant for a lifetime, take the cicadas, they grow under ground and arrive on the surface every ten years.
to what this means is, every one is different in temperaments, but some may remain dormant for a lifetime but they are still there. you know what type you are, but you may choose to go a different route. this is called the freedom of choice. you are gifted in some and some you are not , explore how you can use your temperament to inspire others.

Some of the scholars support the idea that temperament is a characteristic given by DNA, and therefor, unchangeable. The other opinion is that these traits may change during lifetime.. Believe what ever you want to..It will be correct!

Keirsey is a Trait Psychologist.

Trait personality theorists -- Cattell and Murray included -- believe that we have core constants that are unchangable. They may be caused by biology or reactions to incredibly early phenomena that occur extremely early on.

I find mine to be more mutable, but biology is a huge part of my personality.

people do change. the 'me' that i am now is nothing like the 'me' i was 35 years ago.
