If this is a serious question, the answer is that lots of men get like that. Some think it is that they get on their wives' hormone schedules from being so close (ever notice that women who live together often synch periods after time). Maybe it's mortgage payment time or payday, but there is something to that. Look hard at your life and talk to your wife and figure it out.

I am married to a wonderful man for 5 years and I can tell you that he does "PMS" sometimes just like women. He goes through the irritable phase, the mood-swing phase, and the I don't want sex phase. I believe just like women (and I have no medical proof) men experience a hormonal imbalance that causes them to behave this way. It's interesting though, I thought that he was behaving this way to sort of mock me but, I found out later on he really felt this way. I can also tell you that it is true that women experience this and it is uncontrollable unless you are on medication. I actually feel guilty because I cannot control my emotions and hate the way I feel during "that time of the month".

I really do believe that men have periods, too. You guys don't necessarily menstruate but you definitely have the moods swings and body changes that come along with having a period. It's so funny that a guy is asking this question because for years I have tried to convince people that guys have periods. They experience those moments of heightened emotional sensitivity just like women do. So, yes, I do think that y'all have periods.

You sound like you are having a mid-life crisis, which is really a male menopause. Really, you were thinking along the right lines. You could also be low on testosterone--have it checked. Or, maybe you are depressed. In any case, that is no way to live, so go to the doc and find out how to feel better.

Not that i know it is possible. But if you are around 40-50 years old then it's probably the anthropause which is sth like the menopause but in men. If you are younger or not necessarily that is happening then it can be depression. Believe it or not, people who are depressed sometimes behave in a similar way to what you describe.

I'm convinced men go through some kind of down cycle every month. It's either the pheremones the women are giving off or maybe something to do with the moon. I call it PMS (post macho syndrome)

Aww. You just need a change. Doesn't sound like you're too happy with the way things are going. You need a vacation! And take a look at your life and determine what will make you happy and go for it!

Don't forget to talk about what you're feeling with your wife ;-)

I have periodicals. Fly Fishing monthly, MENSA in Pictures and Concrete Tips For Shareholders. I feel tired after reading that lot but if I cancel my subscriptions I would have to talk to the wife.

LOL...

I find that men do have mood cycles; but it sounds more to me like you're going through "THE CHANGE"

In men, this is typically called the "mid-life crisis" where you realize that your carefree youth is completely gone and that you're closer to the grave than you care to admit. Often, we look at our lives and realize that this isn't how we pictured our lives at this age. Your look in the mirror and you see how much you resemble your parents, both physically and in your personality -- and it's depressing.

Either that, or it's the hormones you're taking to prepare for the sex-change operation ;)
