This person always complains about everything I do and never seems to be happy about anything. I try going out of my way and honestly ..... I am at my wits end. I have to live with this person and I want him to be happy, but nothing I do seems to work.....

If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself... just ignore him...

People are usually negative about things when they either want you to feel sorry for them and get attention, or they are afraid the outcome will be negative and don't want to be disappointed by being positive. So honestly to change this what I would do is just not to give them a reaction at all, don't be sympathetic, don't give them the attention. And if you haven't yet, talk to the person and tell them that you don't want to be around the negative attitude, life is life, and you for the most part create your own problems, so he will have to figure it out on his own that being negative about them doesn't make them any better.

First and foremost, do NOT change who you are for anyone!
If you are typically a happy person, then stay that way and don't let anyone get the best of you by pushing your buttons.

Some people are just wired differently and are very negative and cynical which can mean that they are unhappy with themselves therefore they take out their frustrations on others. That my friend, is called jealousy and intimidation!

So many people are jealous of others because they have a perky personality and they just wish they could be like that.

Unless he's your father or brother and you are under age you don't have to live with him. No matter how hard you try this person is having a negative affect on you. He is hindering your success in life and you need to get away from him.

Because they cannot see and don't want to see the good side of things because they ENJOY misery. You might not believe it but some people do. If it is ALL the time, then you really need to go. Nothing you say or do will ever change his mood.

Why do you HAVE to live with this person?
He is obviously unhappy and you do not want to catch this, do you?
Why don't you just let go and see other people?
