First off, my sentiments back Israel.
Second, I am SO sick of us backing and/or helping France and then having them turn around and treat us like poop, that I am not inclined to side with them on ANYthing. I could use them as a reverse barometer. They made a pretty good city for their capital, and I'm quite fond of their sparkling wines - but I know for certain that when they voice an opinion about a subject, I will feel just the opposite.
And it has nothing to do with the issues at hand. Just instinct.

First in WW2 we saved France and ever since they virtually have not sided with anything we have done in the world. I also believe that Islam is getting close to the majority religion in France. They of course would want Israel destroyed.
I would be right to side with Israel regardless of the reasons.
As a nation who's majority is Christian we have an obligation to defend Israel.

I'd sooner eat my lips than side with France on anything. France will sell it's soul to the highest bidder.
As far as the UN is concerned, I believe in the old saying 'get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US'.

We should back Israel since the Arabs are the ones who are always causing problems in the world. it is time to wipe all Arab countries off the face of the earth. When was the last time any Arab country publicly condemned ANY act of terrorism? I recall on the day of 911, they were all dancing in the streets celebrating that America "The Great Satan" was attacked.
Any questions????

Rather than making decisions on foreign policy based purely on who else on which side, we should try to apply a consistent rule of law to everything. We are Israel's ally, but what they have done is disproportionate and unjust. We should condemn, not Israel, but it's act of disproportionate violence resulting in the endangerment of millions of innocent victims and in a possible escalation of violence across the entire Middle East.
And before you go around suggesting that it seems like turning Lebanon into a lake of glass might be a good idea, please try to remember that there are real human lives at stake, including the lives of my two children - ages 8 and 15 (both American citizens, born in the U.S. of American and Lebanese-American parents), their Lebanese-American father, their cousins - ages 9 and 14 (also American citizens of Lebanese-American descent), and their American aunt and Lebanese-American uncle, all of whom arrived in Beirut early Tuesday to visit relatives. I realize that the Israeli government has the right to protect its borders and is concerned about the lives of the two Israeli soldiers who were kidnapped by Hezbollah (an Iranian and Syrian-backed group), but my children's lives are not less dear to me than the lives of those two soldiers are to their mothers. Israel reacted with disproportionate force and should be asked to cease fire immediately, not only in the interest of two lives, but in the interest of the lives of millions.
Incidentally, France is not the only country out there who has condemned the actions of Israel in Lebanon. EVERY country in the world outide Israel has condemned it but one: the United States. Sometime's it's admirable to stand alone, and sometimes it's just stupid and immoral. In this case, I'm afraid it's the latter.

THEY CANT LIFT THEIR HEADS ABOVE THE **** ENOUGH TO SEE WHATS REALLY GOING ON ROUND THEM.THEY ALSO DONT GIVE A **** ABOUT ANYWHERE BUT FRANCE. AS LONG AS THEY ARE LEFT ALONE. I FOR WOULD SAY YES TO BACKING ISRAEL. I WOULD CONDEMN ALL TERRORISTS WHO THINK THEY CAN NOT BE TOUCHED.

I think we should be obvious in our silence on the issue and let the world realize we can not condone what Isreal has done. But we cannot vocally turn on them either. Silence is golden.
