in the community. Conservative talk show hosts like Lars Larsen extol their virtues, but they don't shop there. My wife hates the place. We shop there every once in awhile, and always wonder why we do. The clerks seem confused. The prices are no less than Win Co., and they treat their employees better, and the merchandise is strewn about. No one is there to put stuff away. They care about their stockholders and that is about all. They are mercenaries in the retail business. On the West Coast we have Less Schwab Tires as a major employer. They offer customer satisfaction(you can by tires cheaper, but not with a warantee) and they treat their employees right. They have little turnover. And, they advertise in the local community and support local activities such as sports. They are what Walmart should be. Walmart is the end of the American dream.

You are onto something. I have gradually been learning of all the harm Wal-Mart has done to not only this country but China as well. They are paving the way for other businesses to either do the same, or go out of business.

I closed my eyes to it until they were made wide open when I got injured in their store due to their negligence. They have treated me like nothing more than a speck on a wall in spite of all my attempts to get them to pay for my medical. I am now in chronic pain, had to sell my business because I couldn't perform the work, now have no income, and they continue to ignore me.

You are right, the only people other than the Walton's that they care about are their stockholders, and that is the bottom line. They spend more money advertising how wonderful they are to communities than they spend on communities. They will spend more money fighting my medical claims against them than the medical claims are worth. It's good business. Mustn't set a precedent.

Yes, Wal-Mart is the end of the American Dream. I hope it doesn't take a lot of other people getting injured to have their eyes made wide open.

WAKE UP AMERICA !!!!!

I know it is politically incorrect to extol the virtues of Walmart these days, but I shop there and there's a whole bunch of people there with me. Most importantly to me, it is one stop shopping. Also, the prices are reasonable and the quality, while not superior, is a good value. My Walmart is clean and orderly. The clerks will always show me the way if I can't find an item and the cashiers are pleasant and efficient. We don't have a Win Co here or any other store that compares, but I don't have any complaints anyway. Walmart helps me to fulfill my American dream by saving me time, money, gas and energy.

I don't like Wal-mart either. The company has it's faults, but I don't think it's evil. They are a success because customers are convinced they are saving money by shopping there and clearly, that is what is most important to many, many people. Wal-mart has a profit margin of just 3.5%, which is much lower than the national average for all businesses. The financial industry for example, has a 21% profit margin...

Yes. In the book The World is Flat it shows Wal Mart as an ideal economic business but also a contradiction in its actions. It represents the US because of the actions and words that contradict by political leaders, not only Bush but also local government officials, to solving the problems of the society on a local and national level.
