SATA definitely. SATA much faster than ATA. Although ATA has bigger capacity, it will run very slow when you use up to 100GB. SATA does not.
So, you don't want to wait and pull out your hair because of extremely slow ATA running, do you?
Speed of SATA is at least twice of ATA. If you don't get that speed, you can consider you hard drive is refurbished or has defective.

Really it depends on what that price is. Just taking a quick look I'm seeing an average price of about $80.00 for a 250 GB ATA drive. Again just taking a quick look I'm finding 250 GB SATA - 300 drives for $85.00 to $90.00. On that basis I'd go for a SATA drive.
Looking at your 2 choices I'm reminded of something an old mechanic told me years ago "There ain't no substitute fer cubic inches". Go go for the 250 especially if your system is 18 or more months older.

confident, there's a huge enormous difference, and they don't look rapidly interchangeable. PATA is Parallel ATA (or merely universal previous ATA), which makes use of the tremendous ribbon cable. SATA is Serial ATA, which makes use of a plenty thinner cable. Their ability connections are different too. each and each kit lately can use PATA drives. merely the most as a lot as date platforms use SATA. in case you prefer to coach SATA drives, and your pc don't have SATA ports on the motherboard, you would possibly want to operate a SATA controller card on your computing gadget. you would possibly want to also might want to get SATA ability adapters as well.

What are you needing? Speed or capacity? If you want speed get the SATA 160GB. If it's capacity, then get the ATA 250GB. The speed of the SATA is not THAT much greater than the speed of an ATA.

Being one that always runs out of space (one sytem alone I ave 2 80G drives, 3 60G drives and another 3 19G drives, plus the boot drive) I'd go for the larger drive.
The speed difference is something you won't notice, the size difference is something you will !!!!
And trust me, the difference in speed from a high end ATA to a SATA is not that much.

depends on what your computer can handel and what you are looking to accomplish.
if your computer can handle the SATA-150 and you are looking for a higher data transfer rate then that is what you should get
if you are lookingh for storage space or your computer cannot handle the 150, you should get the ATA model
don't forget to select a best answer!

People rave about SATA. I'd go with speed over capacity probably.
