Ft Worth requires all containers to be clean of all food or liquid other than water. They also want us to conserve water because we are in a drought. Should I quit recycling all food and beverage containers?

NO...please do not stop recycling. Fill one bottle with water and pour into the next and into thenext and so on. Only one bottle of water will actually be used for rinsing. You can use it to water patch of lawn or a plant. Then it isn't wasting water at all.

You can use the same H20 for the containers. OR...you can use hot water to soak it for a few hours or overnight, then empty in the morning. I'm in Arizona, the same restrictions apply here. So we don't let the water run anymore to wash the jars. Just a simple soapy soak and we're done.

No, ultimately recycled resources contribute to less water pollution as well (up to 50%!!),
Also, to make recycled paper requires 61% less water!!
so keep recycling, its ALWAYS GOOD no matter what- throwing garbage away is ALWAYS WORSE....
Water can be replenished, but garbage thrown out will last forever....especially plastic or glass bottles.

Ditto the use of dirty dish water, plus you can collect rain water (whenever it DOES rain!). I used to live in Arizona and I always collected my shower water to reuse as well (just plug up the drain while you shower and then scoop it into jugs to use for rinsing recyclables or watering plants).

i'm not so sure recycling isn't a big crock of shite anyway. i read somewhere once that pepsico took a big load of their products that were supposed to be recycled and towed them over to india and dropped them in the ocean. not saying this is true or not, but i have been exposed to some rather suspect information.
