That and Ben's new attitude. As a blue collar guy leading by example and never complaining, always hustling, and not about money, a new attitude became instilled when Ben complained about no defense, never touching the ball, and Flip Saunders in general in the playoffs. he is just not happy with the direction the Detroit Pistons are going with Flip and their team. I am a Piston fan and know he was a good leader, and I wish him as an individual luck with Chicago, but not luck for Chicago.

The difference between 45 million and 60 million - you do the math! I would've loved for Ben Wallace to stay with the Detroit Pistons - although this season was a total disappointment - because I believe they took themselves for granted! In their minds they had won the championship before playing the games - they counted their chickens before they hatched!
If Ben Wallace had stayed with the Pistons - he would've been the highest paid player there with the 45million 5 or 6 year on contract. I believe Detroit was right to let him go to Chicago - I love Ben Wallace - don't misinterpret me - he has some problems in his game - he can't shoot the basketball and score!
At 45 million he was going to have the biggest contract ever in Pistons history - but 60 million and you can't score with any consistancy - come on - you might as well pay him just to sit on the bench!
In the business of Basketball and anything else that much liking someone probably isn't possible!
As much as I like Ben Wallace the challenge is clear for him - he has a 60 million deal with the Chicago Bulls and if he doesn't live up to every penny of that 60 million - this story will end sadly for Ben Wallace.
I believe that he took the money over relationships that were supportive of him - the very next season will tell whether this was a good choice or a bad choice.
I hope greed didn't win - because greed always turns it's back on you later! Greed wants immediate results - always.

As a die-hard Pistons fan I am really bummed about Wallace leaving. But you have to put yourself in his shoes. A whole lot of money to play not far from home with a team that is another veteran or two away from making a serious run in the East. John Paxson is a very friendly, persuasive guy and Scott Skiles has proven he can coach. Plus, now Wallace is the man in Chicago unlike Detroit where Billups and Rip get most of the attention. I live in Chicago and this city is beside itself right now. He's totally loved and he hasn't put on a jersey yet.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ money is continually the substantial reason. there is no way Detroit ought to, or extra importantly, ought to tournament Chicago's furnish. A 30+ year-old, non scoring, protective mastermind replaced into not nicely worth $60 mil over 4 years. i appreciate B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-Ben Wallace for what he did for the Pistons. The commerce that delivered Ben and Chucky Atkins for furnish Hill is likely #a million on the record of "Trades that gave the impression to be so lopsided one way, yet 5 years down the line, replaced into lopsided any opposite direction." Ben's contracts previous to this modern-day one were VERY undervalued to what Ben contributed. Now it should be argued that he's being overpaid and from a economic standpoint, the Pistons made the right decision even although their fan base will be very disenchanted for your time. The Pistons are notorious even as it is composed of not providing max contracts. Allen Houston, furnish Hill, and Jerry Stackhouse were all gamers that had huge contract seasons notwithstanding the Pistons properly keen to enable them go/commerce them because they believe the finished is larger then that's elements, rather even as one area is making 30% of the crew's cap.

i think that wallace came to realization that most of the pistons are getting older and their title chances could be heading off in the distance. maybe he wanted to play with a younger team, where he will be true star in one of the biggest basketball cities in the NBA.
