If it is seasoned, get rid of it!!!! I will give you the money for a new sponge. I know they are expensive but, I will cut into my budget for you.

Throw it out, honey. It's a sponge. It stinks because it's soaked up bits of food with the water over time, and now those bits of food have biodegraded (rotted).

If you've got deep sentimental attachment, you can run it through the dishwasher, but fer cryin out loud, it's a SPONGE. They're like 2 for a buck.

Put it in the diswasher next time you run it. But make sure you pit it in the silverware try or it might end up on the heating element. Run the wash on really hot!!! It works like a charm

Hydrogen Peroxide is cheap, 99cents for a big brown bottle. It will destroy all biological material and remove the odor.

Soak, let sit, rinse and dry

Simple, effective.

If it's not totally shredded, put in in the dishwasher for 1 cycle the next time you run it. Or you can splurge for a new one for $1.00

soak it in bleach and then either set it outside (on a table or something) to dry in the sun or run it through a final rinse in your clothes washer with towels (white) .... tho, if a bit gamey - just toss it...
