THis is for a homeless shelter and I'm not good with writing letters. 10 points if you help me write it yourself. THanks

I have been writing letters to organizations to get prizes/donations for our library's fundraisers. Mostly, I explain what I am soliciting for and how their donation would be used.

I usually get a very generous response. It all depends upon how that organization is doing and how many other organizations (like mine) ask for stuff.

I have received stuff like t-shirts, tickets, memberships, etc. from groups like The Cleveland Browns, The Cleveland Cavaliers and local museums and the like. The prizes/donations are not much, but our patrons like them.

I would suggest you have a colleague look over your letter first (for typos and misspellings) before sending it out.

Good luck.

When I did fundraisers and asked for donations I just called the company got their fax number typed up a fax cover sheet and requested it on that. Just stated the organization that I was trying to help and what I was looking for. I got all kinds of stuff that we raffled off and donations. I even sent them to all the casinos in Las Vegas and Reno. Businesses like things to be to the point and quick. Good luck
