it's a series of 13 books that tells the story of three kids, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, who were orphaned when their parents died in a great fire. now they are trying to find a home, but a fortune hunter called Count Olaf. he has been trying to get their fortune from the very beginning along with his freaky crew of failed actors. the books are basically the story of when the kids go from one home to another, each time meeting count olaf in one of his ridiculous disguisses, and each time no one believing them it's count olaf. in almost all books someone gets killed by count Olaf, or the kids guardians just have no more interest in the orphans. towards the middle of the series the kids find out that there is an association of good people who turn the fires out. those people who make fires also have an association. their parents belonged to those who turned the fires out and now they know that there is a possibility that one of them may have survived. the rest of the series tells about the unfortunate adventures of the kids trying to find the truth, as well as a home.
