Canada

I've now lived a long time in both countries.

Both are basically the same in political philosophy and economy. Both have a two party system, with a few minor parties barking at their heels.

Both are democracies, or what passes for democracy these days.

Both societies have excellent medical systems, unlike the USA and other countries that lag in social services.

Both countries have a low violent crime rates and stringent gun laws.

Canada, unhappily, is too cold for me six months or more each year. Australia's snow is relegated to a small area in the south and the island of Tasmania.

Both countries are very hot in the summer, especially the eastern seaboard in both cases. But, Canada tends to be more humid inland, mainly due to the presence of the Great Lakes.

Both countries are, overall, great places to live in; the people of both are generally very tolerant, very peaceful, but perhaps a little too accepting of political and business corruption.

Traffic is lousy in all the cities, mostly, but nowhere near as bad as the USA, for example.

In sum, and to answer you main query, you'll save more money in Australia -- a better climate overall, a standard of living as good as, and lower taxation (now).

Why else do think I'm here???

Canada is awful. Too many taxes. I've heard that once you make over $60,000 a year they tax you at 50%.

On top of that there are 2 taxes on everything you purchase, which I think adds up to around 16% sales tax.

So not a good place to save money...I don't know anything about australia.

Canada, being a socialist nation, is not a good place to save money because the government takes most of it away from you. Australia has also been infected with that pathogen, but is currently undergoing antibiotic treatment.
