But if I mention Islam in a not-so-rosy light, I get reported?

How many of you have seen questions/answers insulting every religion under the sun left up on this site? Do we really have freedom of speech in the USA or were my grandparents lied to when they came here?

You can get reported for insulting any of those religions. Just get over it and move on already.

I don't know what you said so can't comment....

Its not and neither is insulting Muslims as a whole group of people. The average muslim person is probably like any of us-- trying to live life, make a living, have family and enjoy life.

We're dealing with an extreme element of fanatical muslims.
Those extremes exist in other religions too-- christians bombing abortion clinics, protesting gay funerals
Sieks (sic) conflicts with Muslims and Hindus
Exreme Israeli jews who don't want to negoatiate/give up land in west bank etc.

btw- Scott_o, I've seen plenty of instances here in AZ of religious types of things in schools. Heck, there are even some churches that hold mass/services in PUBLIC schools on the weekend. Mormons have all kinds of special treatment in public schools. Quit your whining-- there is a limit to how much (if any) religion should be in a public school.

Freedom in this country is rapidly on the decline. They're firing away at everything to try to amend the constitution and so forth. The amendment to ban flag burning almost passed... missing by only ONE vote.

People feel anymore that when their feelings get hurt, they should have some sort of restitution for it. Unfortuantely, these people are the ones out en masse to get whatever law passed so they don't have to be hurt. The ones sitting at home are the ones thinking, "Pfft, this will never pass... America has freedom of speech!" [So write your congresspeople!]

I agree that hate crimes are wrong, and hurting someone physically or destroying their property is wrong. But to *say* you hate Islam (founded in facts or not), shouldn't be wrong. No more wrong that it is to say you don't like white people, or lazy people, or skydivers. You are entitled to your opinions.

Exactly!!!

I wasn't aware of the Hindu bias, but the world is filled with people who hate Jews and Christians. Even in the U.S., a country founded by Christians, there's nothing but Christian bashing all day long. You can't have any hint of Christianity in a public school, but they have classes that teach Islam.

For the same reason we can not insult blacks in America without blacks screaming discrimination. Minorities tend to take advantage of political correctness and right now it's politically correct only to insult White Males and Republicans.

YOu can insult jews and christians and whites but don't dare state a fact about someone else or you are discriminating. It is called discrimination by the groups that are always crying about being dicriminated against

When did insulting Christians and Jews become OK?

If I made fun of Anne Frank or Gahndi, would people be mad? I think they would. I'm SURE they would.

Don't claim things without proof.
