It is not easy to motivate the staff in any company to work for them nowadays. My company always stress that our bonus is tagged to our performance. In one way if you want to have better bonus, we have to worked extra hard. This is one way a company can motivate their own workers

I would suggest you let them grow.
All staffs need to grow, when they see no growth they start to feel bored, and thats why problems come in.

Give them a chance to perform they skills & reward them. This in return will benefir your company and have staff who are confident in take up new responsibility. U will not spend too much time supervising them and time can be well spend in growing your company.

Obviously benifits motivate as well as the fear of getting fired but the best way to get the best out of your people is to talk to them, get to know them you should know them like family. Don't cross the line and make them uncomfortable but remembering when someones mother has died and giving them that day off goes a long way, get the picture?
