Take a deep breath. I wouldn't "ignore" the family. They know you both pretty well. Take some time to explore their reasons thoroughly. Sit down with the each family, maybe several times. Sit down with both families. It would be well worth the effort to have the full support of both families. Bring in a mediator if necessary, like a marriage counselor. Marriage is a life-long commitment. Knowing what you are getting into is paramount for a life-long, loving relationship. That loving feeling you and she have can disintegrate quickly when the rubber begins to hit the road if you don't do your homework. Perhaps they themselves will have a different feeling if you take the time to open the situation, lay it on the table, and take a good look at the big picture together. I wish you the best and a "happy ever after".

What is there reason for the two of you not to marry each other.in there eyes or, Do they have a reason? I think if the two of you want to marry, you and this gal should decide in this on yourself, U two R the ones that have to live together,How old are you and this gal ? I had the same problem with my family, It did take awhile us to get married to each other. His family treated better than my own family.ever did. I love them very much and always will
However, We did stay together for many years and had a child together, and was very happy,
and 25 years later we are going though a divorce now but, not because of my family or his, He became a very bad drinker, and, I couldn't take it. His family still stands right beside me. and I love them very much he has about killed my love for him. not that I don't love him or anything like that, if he was to STOP drinking I would think about stopping the divorce.
Best Of luck to you and his gal The most I can say is
follow your heart.....................
