I have a Nintendo 64, and I just got it. I have Donkey Kong 64 too. It says on the box that it requires N64 Expansion Pak, and it is designed for N64 Rumble Pak. what are these for and where do they go? Also what is a Jumper Pak and where does it go?

The n64 expansion pack was originally wold with the Donkey Kong 64 game... it is a RAM expansion. The game took up so much memory to run that the system needed a boost in order to function. If you don't have the extra RAM, you can't play that game. There are other games that also benefit from the RAM expansion, but I'm not sure if they require it.

The N64 rumble pack was an item that attaches to a controller and provides a rumble feedback when you are playing games. For example, when you are playing Donkey Kong and you hit a barrell, the controller will shake. This feature has been implemented into newer generation controllers and does not require the extra piece of equipment, but Nintendo created the technology for the N64 and the extra pack is needed.

I'm not entirely sure what the Jumper pak is, but I think that it is the same as the RAM expansion pak.

As a side note, the best game ever released for the N64 was Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. Do yourself a favor and get that game.

The N64 Expansion Pak is designed to increase memory and goes into the slot on the top of the system. The rumble pack goes in one of the slots on the controller. Not sure what a Jumper Pak is.

If you have a good pc, here's an interesting alteration graphics-wise man....

Buy the adaptoid. It plugs into your usb port, you download software for it, and it is the first and one of the better adapters for game controllers...have had mine since 1999, still running strong. This will give you rumble, and allow you to store as much data from your memory cards on your pc as you would like.

Go to http://www.zophar.net and experiment with those N64 emulators. You own the system, and the game, so you are fine legally, no worries. Once you find the emulator to your liking and have experimented on a few roms, you'll find it looks much nicer when optimized with your graphics card. The expansion pak? No need, it's already in there.

If the above doesn't concern you at all, search E-Bay for an expansion pak, call a local game store, or check with your local Electronics Boutique store, see how they can help you out--the price should be pretty cheap.

Luck to you.

and expansion pak is so the Nintendo can hold more data for games and a rumble pak is so the controller can rumble but you don't need that all you need is the expansion pak and the Nintendo memory card it goes in the back and the expansion goes in the front of the console they can be found in a FX Video Game Exchange and don't worry about having a Nintendo i have one to there great!
