Mac's got it.
2x4 = 1-1/2" x 3-1/2"
2x10 = 1-1/2" x 9-1/4", but can vary a bit
2x6 = 1-1/2" x 5-1/2"
2x8 = 1-1/2" x 7-1/4"
2x12 = 1-1/2" x 11-1/4"
The actual size can vary a bit. And pressure treated is almost always 1/4" or so bigger than the above actual numbers. For example 2x4 PT can be 1-3/4" x 3-3/4"

MOST of the time 1.5X3.5. However, that is considered "nominal" and it could vary by as much as an eighth of an inch. This is for new wood. Old wood actually used to be much closer to 2X4 than now.

Bad Brad is wrong Mac is right. The change from 1/2" under size on the width changes at 8". A 2 x 8 is really 1-1/2" by 7-1/4"

Depends on if it is treated. Often a 2x10 is only 1.5x9.25 but if pressure treated they may be 1.5x9.5.
Check it out at the lumber yard to find out, as there are a few mills that do weird stuff.
The expensive stuff can be 8q-40q which is actually 2x10 (8qtr x 40qtr) but you only see that in imports or custom cuts.
Always check the actual stock if you are framing decks with pressure-treated, as you never know!

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/QwNZe
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

1.5" x 3.5" = 2x4
1.5" x 9.5" = 2x10
Take a 1/2" off each side with dimmensional lumber.
With the exception of 1 x ...that is 3/4" thick
