In the long term its good. It makes more alternitive sources of energy less expensive that gas. That has a larger effect than what the government could do to spure innovation. With people buying the alternatives, the technology improves and gets cheaper through economies of scale.
I already ride my bike in a small town. I see people paying to sit in traffic and look for a place to park. I can get most places in town faster on a bike than in a car.

I'm glad my car gets 28 miles to the gallon and that I only live five miles from work. Otherwise, our prices are just catching up with the rest of the world. And maybe just maybe, Detroit will finally invent another new life changing machine that will leave us less dependent on gas and oil.

I dont like it when the price of anything goes up. I just wonder why americans dont admit they are the ones to blame, or at least they share responsibility for it. Nobody told Americans to buy gas guzzlers. Nobody told americans to commute. No body told americans to drive so fast and waste gas like water. Nobody told american not to drill for oil in america.
****, weve dug our own graves.

it is really a hardship for me but this is really the only day-to-day effect that this war has had on us. we haven't really had to give anything up as a country. i don't think we should be there anyway but that's another story entirely...

I say that that everyone will end up broke if they keep raising it. Why can't we just use hydrogen using cars, instead of oil!
