While I regret giving you the time of day, I will attempt to answer your ridiculously unspecific and very, idiotic question. As an American, but of course not speaking for all Americans, I'd have to say yes, I think most Americans realize that the rest of the world does not like us very much, for one reason or another. There are many approaches I could take to answering this question - I could have easily taken the patriotic direction and told you to f-off and that I don't care what anyone else in the world thinks, but then I'd only be speaking for half of America. We'd all like to think that you were specifically talking about our government, and not the people of the United States, because remember, half, if not more than half of the U.S. population hates our government as well. I personally agree with you about handguns, I think guns should be outlawed entirely, but that is a right of Americans that has been determined democratically. As far as the unfair criminal justice point, I'd agree with you a little that our judicial system can be unfair sometimes, but it's probably the fairest and most honest system that exists in the world, and no judicial system can be perfect. As far as the United States in general, you have to understand that when it comes to war and aid, we're pretty much damned if we do, damned if we don't, and mistakes will be made. If we don't go into Africa to stop some sort of genocide, then we get crap for it. If we do go into Africa and try to help out, then we get crap for it. And not just crap from the rest of the world, we get crap from our own country as well. You have to understand that it is not easy being the most powerful country in the world, and the good that the United States does for the rest of the world far outweighs anything that can be considered unfair. The United States is a little bit like a celebrity (don't take this comparison to heart), in that everything we do is criticized, no matter if it is good or bad. We are constantly under a microscope, and a lot of people around the world are just waiting for us to slip up on one little thing just so they can call us out on it. I hope that helps you with your stupid question.

Well, you are entitled to your pinion, but I hardly think the fact you hate America constitutes everyone in the world hating America.

You cite unfair criminal justice system and the firearms laws. Does your country, wherever that may be have a perfect record on those and all other issues.

America is not the only country to allow firearms, look at the majority of the middle eastern and African countries. Also compare their records on human rights.

I live in the UK. A country where guns are effectively outlawed. Hence only outlaws have guns here. The number of firearms related crime has not dropped since the introduction of the complete firearms ban. Also, out criminal justice system is a complete mess. So you Hate the UK as well?

Americans are blessed with a form of government that actually allows the citizens to have control of the government. We are guilty of not taking advantage of that as often as we should. We take pride in our Constitution and the freedoms it allows. It is not perfect but the Founding Fathers most important contribution was their recognition of human nature when faced with power. Ultimately, Americans have the Constitutional right to seize their government when they feel that it has gotten out of control. They can do this peacefully by voting at the local, state and federal levels. When that doesn't work, we would have to resort to using the guns that the 2nd amendment gives us the right to own. That may seem exteme to most, but to maintain freedom the government should fear it's citizens. Without that, our elected officials would become dictators and tyrants. That is human nature when put into a position of "perceived" power over others. Your comment aobut our criminal justice system makes no sense. Do you mean unfair from the criminals or from the victims viewpoint. We go to great lengths to make sure those accused of crimes are given fair trials and when convicted, they are still treated quite well. Granted, I would not want to end up in of our prisons but I would definetly not want to end up in a prison overseas. I don't believe for a moment that the whole world hates us. I have travelled to many different countries and have never encountered outward hostility or hatred. People protest against America but we do that here also. I don't think that we portray ourselves in the media very well. I hate to think that people view Americans by the tv shows we create and beam all over the world. The average American wants the same thing that any citizen in any other country wants. They want to live, use the skills given to them, and raise their families in peace. Their is a very vocal 10% in any population that holds extremist views. Our country is no different. Unfortunately, that 10% seems to get the most airtime and their views are thought to be held by the majority.

Our justice system is not perfect. But its better than 99% of other countries. As for guns, since UK and Australia have outlawed them violent crime has risen by more than 300%. A survey stated that only 30% of Americans own guns. Only 2 % of the population have criminal records, of the 2% only 3% of them used weapons in the crime. That means that only 0.0012% of all Americans have done a crime with a gun. Even after all this said I really don't care if you like this country. Not everyone hates us they are only jealous.

Exaggeration #1: Everybody else....

Exaggeration #2: Hates

We are aware that it is human nature to envy success and that a certain percentage of humans turn that envy into hate.

We are also aware that our culture has a certain ego about it, and that from time to time it will clash with other cultures.

And then again sometimes we just don't care when we know what the right thing is to do.

Of course, the rest of the world (everybody else) is free to fill our shoes when and if it wishes....it can get another policeman, it can create another enduring and free democracy and it can send its cast off citizens elsewhere....until the world (everybody else)that supposedly hates us can achieve at least those ends, I think we here will be comfortable with ourselves and our role in the world and the world will simply have to accept us, no?

I wonder what made you to post such kind of question.
First of all I want to say that you cant say Americans, simply because not all Americans are good and at the same time bad people.

I dont know your nationality, but I do respect that. Even in your country you have good and bad people the same thing we have down here.

Maybe you are not agree with Mr. Bush's foreign policy, but it does not gives you right to say that the rest of the world hates US, cause not all Americans voted for Mr. Bush.

In my opinion you was not able to control your emotions and just simply think before posting question.

I hope in future, when you will act first of all you will think as a mankind.

Jealous of your freedoms and quality of life someone said.

Ha!

Our quality of life over here in the UK is just as good, if not better, than yours. We have free health care, and no ghettos. Our government isn't completely corrupt, and we have a completely free media.

Of those you have none.

What irritates the world is not your success, there are plenty of other places with just as good or better lifestyles than the ones you enjoy, it's your arrogance surrounding it.

You have for years assumed you are, as a people, greater than the entire rest of the world put together. Or if you don't, Hollywood does, as it routinely rewrites history in order to cast the USA in a favourable light. Many people over there seem to see the USA as the form of the good, everything that is an ever was good is your doing in your eyes, regardless of whether or not it actually was.

You have no concept of taking responsibility for your actions. You burn huge amounts more oil per person than any other country in the world, much more than you need to, but you don't see that as your problem, as demonstrated by your failure to sign the Kyoto protocol. In the eyes of your government not burning as much oil would be less profitable for your country, sod the rest of the world.

I don't think you need me to get started on your government though.

You take arrogance to such a level it's almost a relief to see your economy beginning to fail. The dollar is falling and your economy is completely reliant of oil, so much so when it runs out a depression could well be on the cards. Of course I would never wish anything that bad to happen to the USA, or any country, but with any luck it'll take you down a peg or two.

By no means does everyone hate you, but the vast majority of people are at least a bit irritated by you. If you could cut the BS you'd be much better off.

hate is not the answer. I don't approve many thinks in USA /I have lived here for 8 years/ but I know some great friends of mine, who happen to be americans. Don't judge people by there race, belief or nationality - than you will be no better than the ones you hate.

And on personal note - I have american pasport now - so you hate me before even know me? how that helps to improve the situation, you complain about?

Everyone in the world doesn't hate them. False premises lead to illogical conclusions. Logic 101.
