My (then) 83 year old father had Quad bypass three years ago. Due to his age, it took him a little longer to "bounce back", but he did and he is pretty healthy now. It took him a couple of months to get back to moving around and doing some things he did before. He couldn't drive for a while and had to carry the little pillow around holding it to his chest. He had an extra problem with his lungs after surgery and had to be on oxygen 24/7 for about three months, but now he just uses it at night. The biggest problem he had was depression and they told us that was common after heart surgery. His doctor put him on Zoloft and after a couple of weeks it really started helping him with the depression. I hope whomever had the bypass surgery is doing well and I wish you all the luck in the world.

I'm still getting over mine (no.. now seriously..) It takes 4-6 months. If you want to recover faster (and I daresay one would) try moderate exercise (walking, doing small 5 pound or so 'lifting' a dozen reps, increase a dozen a week) AND skip red meat! I know what in the hell I am talking about here too.. I'm 5-3F, l20 pounds and it's flippin muscle too (not any fat on this frame) as I'm into fiber and run 5 miles daily.. took a while to get to that point, but hell I've got one spectacular check up every year now.. lol g'luck

Took about 2 1/2 to 3 months. Also had an aortic aneurysm repaired. I have been walking 4 to 5 miles every day and bicycling 3 miles to the track. You have to keep up the activity, watch your blood pressure and cholesterol.
