I have never had a sunburn that peeled because I am usually good about sunscreen - not this time.

I burned on Saturday, Wednesday it started peeling. Today is Friday and it is itching like crazy!

Now what? How do I stop the itch - it's red and raised and bumpy where it itches - do I have a rash or infection or is this normal?

What happens to my skin now? How long will it be discolored?

Lotion lotion lotion. Something gentle and unscented like Lubriderm.

To stop the itch, try applying lotion -- there are even some on the market that are specifically geared towards sunburns. If that doesn't help, ice packs work really well (trust me -- I just went through this two weeks ago myself and almost went bananas from the itching!).

As for the discoloration, it should go back to normal relatively soon after you have peeled. Maybe 1-2 weeks. The red, raised, bumpy is likely just from all the irritation to your skin -- the burn, then the peeling, and maybe even some scratching on your part. Be sure to be extra careful with the sunscreen on that area from now on!

Lotion is always good for the skin because the more moist your skin is the better condition it is in. Even before you peeled you should have been using plenty of lotion. If you buy a good sunscreen and put that on even now it helps, because sunscreen contains a lot of nutrients typically keeps the skin SUPER hydrated. So put on sunscreen a few times a day and you should start to feel better even if you are not going out in the sun. It will help the itching.

go to any store that sells suntan lotion, they will have sunburn relies stuff that contains aloe. It is usually in a clear bottle, has a greenish color to it. it is slimy but it will seep into the skin. this will help to stop the itching, oh ya and don't use soap on it when you take a bath or shower that will dry it out and make it even more irritated. just let watter run over it to wash that area.

Use aloe for the burn. It also helps your skin. Have someone peel you dead skin off your back. Or use a wash cloth. Maybe take a week to heal. My husband gets burnt all the time. This is very normal.

Use after-sun lotion repeatedly..once your skin absorb it reapply, and drink a painkiller that is also anti-inflammatory if it is still sore. Drink a lot of water and don't scratch. Stay out of the sun as far as you can until its better.

Its scary how the sun can damage our skin so badly..don't ever forget the sunscreen, not even once.

Just put lotion on it until it heals up. Anything with aloe is good. Try coconut butter with aloe vera. It'll take a bit to heal but you'll be alright
