I'd love to have someone more knowledgeable fill us both in, but I believe this is what is happening:

A militant organization based out of Lebanon captured a few Israeli soldiers. Israel said, "Fine. We're attacking them. They happen to be in Lebanon, and Lebanon doesn't seem too interested in stopping them, so I guess we're attacking Lebanon." So Israel is attacking Lebanon, in theory focusing on Hezbollah (the militant org I'm probably misspelling), but as such things always go harming civilians along the way. Lebanon is outraged and asking the United Nations to intervene and make Israel stop. Meanwhile, lots of interested parties believe that Hezbollah wouldn't have done this on their own anyway, and are suggesting that Syria and Iran probably encouraged them to capture the Israeli soldiers.

Short version: Israel against the rest of the middle east, as usual.
Longer version: Israel against Hezbollah (not a country) at a minimum, against Lebanon in practice, and perhaps against Syria and Iran indirectly.

In reality, its Islam. But more specifically, a terrorist group called Hezbollah, which is taking credit for it. The country is Lebanon, which Hezbollah has members in their government. Hezbollah is also allowed to operate freely all over that country, making Lebanon a state that sponsors terrorism.

But it is really not only lebanon! Its Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Palestine, and a few other countries that are backing Hezbollah in a concerted effort to destroy the Jewish state.

If you visit the chatrooms you will understand that many people in Europe are on the side of the terrorists. Some of them are probably from the middle east, but are now European citizens. While others are just dumb college students, and bigots.

It's really the same battle Israel has been fighting for 6,000 years or more. For whatever reason, people love to hate the Jews. For the last thousand years and more, their worst enemy has been the muslims. It matters not how much Israel gives in to these people, the muslims want more. Kinda reminds you of some folks in this country, huh. The Israelis are our allies, and they're good people as well, in my opinion. I'd be willing to climb back into a fighter jet to help them.

It's a proxy war between Israel and Syria/Iran. The latter two countries know they can't directly attack Israel so instead they send minions in the form of Hezbollah and Hamas to kill random Israelis.

For now it's the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, but of course Syria and Iran are responsible for ordering the kidnappings so they'll be in it soon enough . . .

Israel and the Palestinian terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah. Hopefully Syria and IRan stay out of it.
