A lot of times when I see a hateful comment about gays in this section, or when I hear one from other people, usually the term is "fudge packer", or someone will say "Butt f*ckers/ing are/is gross" or something to that effect. I'm a lesbian, and I don't have anal sex, and I don't plan on it. So why do some people associate being homosexual to ONLY anal sex? And not only that, seem to be overly concerned with having a problem with it? I guess this goes back to other questions about why some people don't have a problem with lesbians, but think gay men are perverted.

Or associating it to ALL gays? Or ONLY to gays? Some heterosexual women partake in anal sex as well.

And I know a lot of gay men who do little or no anal sex. Not all gay men like it, or even do it for their partner's sake. But it seems to be what they THINK we're all doing in our spare time, so ????
It's also something they really can't get from a woman. A woman can give oral almost as well as a man (OK, maybe just as well, if she really WANTS to). So what can a guy give a guy that a woman can't? Anal! In my younger and less responsible days, I used to cat around on-line, and hooked up frequently. Often the guys I got with were married or otherwise involved. Invariably, what they wanted was to be anal bottom! So maybe it's the curiosity (even if they never want to find out) about receiving anal that makes them assume that we're all doing it 24/7.

Well - I would first answer that anal sex has a historical well spring within the gay community - i would site the 1980's issues with HIV and AIDS and suggest that the spread and stigma associated with the disease and transmission rates in gay men contributed to such a belief - Furthermore it is assumed that gay males can only have sex in such a way -- which was then applied to the whole community ---
However - I recently read somewhere why anal sex can be prefered in women - Men it is prostate stimulation - In women it is said that extra sensastion on the g-spot is possible
I would state that anal sex is now a mainstream form of sex these days both hetero and homo sexual couples practice this behavior - I have lesbian friends that have anal sex, I have gay male friends that practice anal sex, I have straght friends that practice anal sex
I would suggest that sex, anytime of sex act is a matter of preference - Not everyone enjoys anal sex - even gay men - but it is true to say that the matter in which most gay men have become associated with sex acts is through anal penetration and therefore it is associated with gay men
TO discuss the issue of lesbians - I would say it is still more socially acceptable in a paternalistic society to accept women with women - also men can be turnned on by this and so it fuels a market for porn and other associated stuff - but if u were to ask some straight women about fooling around with a friend or having a relationship they would most likely also feel distaste about it
So I think the bigger issue is coming to terms that once a very identifed sex act within the gay community has now become quite mainstream and now practiced by all shows an acceptance for such an act - however americans are sexually repressed and as such do not typically disucss such things

Eh, see my previous rants about "gay" becoming overly male. Combine that with the fact that from the beginning, the straight world didn't care too much about lesbians. The patriarchy found it tittilating, but little else. Whereas gay men are repulsive to the straight world. And the one activity that's probably the most repulsive (and, indeed, foreign to straight men who may partake in the other activities with females) would be anal sex.

the people with the smaller minds just associate anal sex with two guys getting it on. Straight people love anal sex also last time I checked. It's an unfair sterotype for gay men where lesbians making out are perceived as hot, men are not

Well some hate it and some love it. Some love to suck...we are all different in what pleases us...and yes some just like to cuddle... nothing wrong with any of it. Not many are experts so experimentation is what helps to know what a person likes and dislikes...Spooning position for anal sex is about the best...just my opinion!!

Anal sex has for along time been thought of as dirty...most people don't want to admit they do it or like it...And since that's one of the main orifices that gay men have sex...they assume....

Because hetersexuals are ONLY driven by sex, so they see the world only in terms of sex.
Of course that's absurd, isn't it? But that's what many people think of us, that we are only in it for the sex. It also show s an extreme lack of imagination of what two people can do, doesn't it?
The issue of gay men is that they think of one as being "the woman" and men aren't "supposed to" act like women, which is also absurd.
