I was induced. If it goes too long your doctor will induce you. My friend went to 42 weeks

the time will come...everyone is different. I think with my first son, I was 38 weeks when he was born, and showed know signs of dilation at the last OB/GYN appt, the day before...now my second son, he was two weeks late, I was 42 weeks and had been dilated 1cm for a week before he was born....they were going to induce me on the following Monday, but he was born Saturday am anyway

Babies just not ready yet. Despite common beliefs, nothing will "help" for early labor. It's when the baby is ready, he'll come.
That's why they dont have a reason for premature labor..... researcher's arent even certain why babies come before 40 weeks.
Dont be alarmed, this must be your first pregnancy hu? It's common for women it there first to have no dialation or effacement right away.

Just start getting as much sleep as possible now before baby comes....:)

Some women don't dialate at all until they give birth which could be any day for you. With both my kids I started dialating at 36 weeks. Dialating doesn't really mean your going to have the baby soon. Don't get discouraged. Good luck.

are you sure you havent dilated yet? usually by 30 weeks youve dilated at least 1-2CM only your dr can tell....

also you can feel the babys head in your pelvic area if hes come down at all..

..you'll be induced or given medications if you havent dialated

This is ok. first baby? than you will probably go to term with no dialation. it depends on you, your body and whether or not your body is ready for the baby to come down. Your cervix is a tubelike muscle that needs to thin out meaning the length of the tube needs to shorten. It needs to soften in order for this to happen and then you need to have pressure on it such as the head of your baby pushing down on your pelvic floor in order for the cervix to "ripen". If you can have sex, than allow your partner to ejaculate inside of you, sperm contains prostaglanden, a hormone that will soften the cervix and may aid in the ripening process. Good Luck honey and try to relax it will come when it is ready.

I started dialting at 38 weeks, I feel your pain tho the last month sucks!... I went fishing the night before my due date nad the next day i gave birth (and it was my due date!) maybe fishing had nothing to do with it but hey at the last month you'll probably try anything! Good Luck!
