The first thing they should do is to call Cingular and discuss it with them.

You get charged for incoming text messages as well if you don't have unlimited texting. It's right there in the contract.

The second thing they should do is stop making excuses about not getting their 'payment plan' (it's actually a calling plan) in the mail. If they signed a contract, then it's all pretty much right there. If they didn't understand their calling plan, then they shouldn't have signed the contract.

Third, they should realize that there is no word 'costed'.

Good luck and I hope they are able to come to some agreement with Cingular.

Have you thought of getting cricket with no bells and whistles? It drops calls more than others. Also you can get a basic land line and pre paid calling and only use the cells for emergencies. That is what I do. I keep the cel off and do out bound only. I call in take out, call if I have car trouble, call for quick questions, call for police (free), call if I cannot find a place I am to be at, call if I am running late. I just have no conversations. I use the verizon prepaid calling and do the minimum min I can to keep the phone going. The unused min roll over to the next month. If you let the phone go dead and do not pay you loose all minutes. You have to watch for deals. It is fine if you have dicipline. Then you can use the landline for unlimited calls at home.
Or I would just get 2 crickets without any bells and whilstles and talk away. Yeah they are not as good as regular cell service, but they are cheaper. Just get used to the dropped calls. Your bill will be less than 1/2 of what it is now.

AS for charges you did not make. Call customer service and politiely ask for the charges to be removed because you did not make them. If they cannot politely ask to speack to a manager or a supervisor. Then be firm, but polite. If they tell you know politely tell them that you are going to file a claim with the better buisinesss bueru to get this resolved. If thye do not resolve it with you at least there will be a mark against them.
People should really use this non profit agency more often. At lest we have a report of who the bad people are in business.
Here is the website http://www.bbb.org/

We can also look up people prior to using them. It really is a good idea.

Hope you get this worked out. There are always solutions. I am amazed that I can get my way just being very polite and firm. I just say I am your good customer. Please make this right for me.

Where were the text messages sent? there should be a record of that and where the texts went. Because you didn't get the plans in the mail does not release you of the obligation. When the plans were signed for those things should have been agreed upon. If you did not order the service then hopefully they will realize, plus it is your first month and they should give you some slack. Good luck.

pay the bill slowly.

you are bound to the terms & agreements. if you can't prove you didn't send the text messages, then the only proof they have is the bill.

change your texting plan. work out a payment arrangement. they will win... they always do.

poor middle class is a paradox.
and one of the owners of one of those cell phones is lying.

I have cingular and this happened to me once. explain to them your situation. they will probably credit $100 to your account, but they tell you that its only a one time thing and if it happens again they cant credit you again. This happened to me a year ago or more, and its been fine since.

Call the company and dispute the charges.... Ask to talk to a manager and do NOT take no for an answer. $232.00 is not worth the time if they have to deal with you for an hour or so =)
