I received an email from the manager in another office saying that she was sending across another member of staff for next week as my manager is off as we are "under pressure" which we aren't. In the email it said that this girl is "competent" and knows that processes and will be there is we want to ask questions. This girls started after me. I got upset by this as it seemed that we were being called imcompetent. Also she told me taht we were making mistakes so i asked someone else and she said we were doing the work right and I showed her the email and now the whole thing has blown up. My manager came in (from anual leave) and we spoket o main boss who said that email was clear taht she was coming to help out and i was being oversensitive! The email did not make it clear that she was to help but it seemed as if she was coming over to show us what to do. My boss really had a go at me and i ended up in tears! He even said he "didn't have time for this". Am i over reacting?

Just a quick response to some of the replies! Yes my job does include typing (I am in Admin'). But I really did not concentrate on what I was typing because I was too upset and stressed out! However, I am VERY good at my job. So good that I have actually been asked to train up the new administration manager.
On another point, my boss (not my manager) does seem to favour the other office. Any time a complaint is made against them he tells us we are over reacting although we are hauled in for a dressing down when the slightest comment is made against us by them, even when they are false.

not at all...a spade is a spade they say...so i have no doubt in my mind your boss either put his fancy woman there...or he doest see enough of his staff to judge for himself who would suit the positon best...in this case it could have been someone with more experience than the person he chose...but you are right to bring it up and question his descision...it shows you can stand on your own two feet..and your not scared to show your opinion...and he may be a bit pissed...but at least hell respect your willingness to question things in future...wich you must always keep doing...dont let anyone tell you otherwise...at the end of the day..its only a job...but your pride stays with you...good luck...and you have a go at him...for having a go at you...and let him know your entittled to say your thoughts on matters in your work...take care

Do you like your job? You may be over reacting a bit, I know you feel as you should be in charge because you have been there longer however, consider that as long as things are being done right as you stated, let them send the other girl and let her tell all of you what to do, if it turns into a mess just think, better her than you. I do understand how you feel but, let it go, your bass was probably mad that you got things stirred up and hopefully he will forgive and forget. As to the question, were you wrong, I would say no, you felt passed up and felt that you could handle that spot. You maybe should have waited for your boss to return and discussed it. If you don't like your job, start looking and find a job where they will use your skills BUT, just think, they will use you like they were going to use the other girl and you will go over people that have been there longer also so, now the shoe will be on the other foot. It is though out there, I know, I have been in about the same situation more than once. At one job I let them pass me up and I had to do their job for them and I did wind up the manager for 13 years ( I left to relocate). Another job, I reacted like you but I quit, now I am considering leaving the present job and looking again, I may have made a big mistake by quiting, I lost alot!!!!
Good Luck, hang in there. We could start a buisiness teaching people how to be defiant :-)

My sincere opinion is that although clearly things were not done correctly in sending another manager to your office, you may have been a little too sensitive and emotional.
I think what you should have done was to go immediately to the manager of the other office and calmly say that even though you appreciated her action was well intended, it was nevertheless, rather humiliating for you. Of course it was her prerogative, but you would be grateful if in future you were given the chance to show your abilities and develop your career.
You could also have said the same thing to your own manager when he came back, for surely he must have had some say in how things were done. He seems to be a spineless "yes man"
When all is said and done, do not take life too seriously and make your self unhappy. "Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone...."

I can see why you thought that she was being sent to show you the ropes, but it is possible that she was coming to help out as you were going to be one person down. Perhaps you have overreacted a little, but just put it down to experience and make sure you try and get on with this girl and be welcoming to her to show your boss that it was a misunderstanding. Just move on from it, don't need to mention it again. This is why its always best to make a phone call instead of mail in this situation, as I think it can have two or more ways of looking at it. Don't worry any more, it is possible that you may learn something from this girl, and she from you. Hope it goes okay.

If you have to type as part of your job then yes, I think you probably do need extra help, what does 'and we spoket o main boss' mean?

Babes I hate to say it but the boss is never wrong (even when they are) (frequently!!)
All you can do is keep your head down and get on with your work. If you pursue this, you might end up being fired!!
I know its hard but its your only option!

If you rush work like you do with your detail here, and have grammer, also punctuation problems. This could cause a multitude of reasons why you should not be in this individuals place!
Do not be offended, you will get there with experience, or a career change!

Sue for harassment. In America, it is what the "victim" feels is harassment. P.S. learn to spell. That might be holding you back.
