Absolutely! In fact I think thousands of topless women should descend on the white house demanding that right. Even if it accomplished nothing it would be the laugh of the century watching the news channels try to cover the uncovered without getting in trouble with the FCC for the coverage. And supposed we were arrested? Most cops have a blanket in the trunk of their cars, but... they'd be out-gunned to say the least. *LOL*

Sorry but your reasoning is pretty ignorant. Women and men are NOT the same. We don't have equal rights, and that's just a fact of life. First of all, a man's chest is NOT a private part, a womans breasts are. Think about this, what if ladies that wanted to go out topless on the street did, do you realise how many guys are going to grope them? Since you want to make it legal for them to be topless it's no longer going to be a private part and if someone touches it you won't be able to do a thing about it. Who the heck said anything about equal rights? Do you realise women have more rights than men do? A woman can request a stop anywhere on a bus late at night, a man CAN'T! Without a prenup a woman gets like what, half of the mans things? Where is the equal rights there? Honestly, women have nothing to cry about when it comes to rights. I wouldn't mind seeing nice ladies walk topless but it isn't right to me. It will make "uglier" or heavier girls feel even worse about their image and we will become even more shallow people. Once again, a mans chest is not a private area, I guess it's hard for some people to grasp that. Also think about this scenario, what if guys want to go and take photos of topless ladies in public? They're allowed to do so as long as the camera isn't hidden, they can pretend they were taking a picture of something next to you. Or ask a friend to stand close by to take the pic, and there wouldn't be a thing you could do about it.

Yes i agree women should have the right of going topless if they want. It's just soo sexist. I do not know if it's indeed true that women in Canada have the right but if it is indeed true I encourage it because there's nothing fun in being shy. If some woman does it maybe others won't feel shy anymore??? Like when you think about it a breast is just some body part. Why is it considered SOO sexy??? I believe society sets the standards for that...
Point proven: 100 years ago I believe ankles were considered sexy NOT BREASTS. And if there is law against going topless in your area you can try to change it by doing a petition!!! Think of it as freedom...

Maybe if you lived in Europe where people are more mature about those things. It would be nice if everyone could be. But,anyway, no you can't go around topless (unless it's in your house;then you can go around butt-naked if you desire. What you do behind closed doors is YOUR business),unfortunately, but i see nothing wrong with going around in a bikini top or a tube top,or something. As long as you have "Thelma and Louise:P) fully covered, there should be no problem with that. BUT if someone still calls you a deragotory name or tries to bust you, or something, then i think it is sexist because though i understand women can't show their chests like men can, it's pretty stupid that they can't show their bellies. Try to find some sort of compromise,so that you're not "indecent",but not burning up,either.

Uh no, I don't think women going topless in public is a good idea. I'm a woman myself, and I'm not saying this because I'm sexist or prudish or anything like that. I can understand your argument that if guys can show their chests then women should be able to do the same thing. However, it doesn't work that way. Looking at a man's naked chest does not elicit the same sexual response that looking at a woman's naked breasts does. Do you know how sexy breasts are??? (well, at least the nice looking ones). There's just no way that women can walk around topless in public and have it not cause a LOT of problems. Hell, who would be able to function anymore?? LOL Yes, I suppose that if it did become an accepted, common thing, we would probably become desensitized to the "Breast Effect", but considering how most of us view them at this moment, I just couldn't imagine it!

Its not sexism. A mans bare chest is not looked upon as a symbol of sex the same as a woman chest. Sorry, that is just the way it is. So, you got to cover the girls. Now, the really sad fact, some women have no buisness going topless. Some women need to put as much clothing on as possible. Some men too.

I thought you could do what you want on your own property, but maybe not? ?
Absolutely women should be able to go topless. I love it that (some) men love to buy porn but if they see a woman nursing her baby they freak out. . . like breasts are to be ornamental, and they shouldn't have to "share" with babies.
Whatever we say, America is still an extremely sexist place. You have to pick and choose your battles though. .. (toplessness? reproductive rights? equal pay?) If you are younger you may not know that there is STILL no Equal Rights Amendment in our country. Back in the early 80s the conservative right got it voted down by saying "equal rights means you'll have to share bathrooms, men and women together." Crazy, huh? Remember that women's rights , civil rights, EQUAL rights. . . are an ongoing battle. Get registered, watch the issues, vote and tell your friends to also! Take care and stay cool :)

Wow, my freind had the SAME thing. She wanted to know why do guys have the right to and we don't? I really don't know. I mean I don't see the difference. Fat men have "man boobs" that look like female boobs. And they are allowed to go topless. I believe women should have the right to go topless. If it is hot, then yeah, why should females have to go through the heat and even have a heatstroke. Men should have to wear shirts too then!
It's not about being sexy, I don't get why people think it's so bad. I mean, like I said before, it's just a man. They have "boobs" just because we are female, men know that they have breasts and that they are supposed to be hidden, yet when they see a man with "man boobs" they shake it off like nothing.

I'm all for it. As long as it's not my daughters, or my wife, or my grandmother (eww), or my aunts, or cousins. Yeah go for it. You know what, I'm even ok with my wife doing it, what the hell.
The truth is our society has rules. You can choose to disobey them if you believe the laws to be unjust. Be prepared for the consequences. Social change often comes with a heavy price.
I wish you well. However, I would be extremely uncomfortable around you if you were topless. I know that isn't your concern but there are two sides to every issue.
-In most jurisdictions in the US, obscene behavior that can be observed from a public area can be addressed by police. You can be naked at home, but if the shades are open and people can see you from the street, then the police can intervene. Not that you are obscene, but that or indecent exposure will probably be the charge .

The reason women aren't allowed to go topless is the same reason they still expect men to open doors for them. Equality is a two-way street. Are you prepared for absolute equality?
That said, I doubt you would get too much resistance from men on that one. I can guarantee, whoever called the cop on you was either a woman or a married man who got yelled at by his wife for looking!

In Canada the supreme court has ruled that women DO indeed have the same right to go topless as men. If a jurisdiction makes a regulation that women cannot go topless, the law MUST apply to men as well. As a result, in most places in Canada, women are permitted to parade about sans chemise.
