Springfield is the second most common city name in the USA, meaning that most states have a Springfield. (the most common city name in the USA is Fairview)
But if you are asking about the Simpsons, Matt G. is from Oregon and there is a Springfield Oregon, but it seems like they were able to drive to New York pretty quickly so it cannot be that... On one of the Halloween episodes, the flying saucer that picked up the Simpson family and flew off into space appeared to be coming from the Louisiana area, so I'd check there. It has to be somewhere that has a big Capitol City...
