It's mainly all stereotyping. True Goths are quite religious and most of them are Christian. The next biggest religion within the subculture are other world religions but not all people believe in the one God. I mean, people might have a number of gods and goddesses but that doesn't make them Gothic.
The people who are mixing up the two COULD be Gothic, but from what I'm seeing, they're just poseur jerks who cannot find anywhere else to fit in and downgrade our subculture.

I wear goth clothes sometimes and I'm wearing black nail polish right now. But I'm not all gothic and I believe in God. But I don't know why some people say that.
I was going to answer your other question you posted yesterday about hating your mom but I couldn't because I couldn't answer any more questions for the day. But I hope you and your mom get on good terms. And please no matter how mad you get at her, don't say you would kill her, 'cause that's just freaky and scary. But I know the feeling that you get at your mom, I get the same feeling too sometimes. If you really think she's abusive then report her. But if she's not abusive like hitting you and calling you bad names then either deal with it or move out. That's all I know what to tell you. But I'm sorry for the situation you are in with your mother.

Because there are people who dress that way to make a statement. Like it or not, that is the statement associated with that look, and dressing like that announces to the world that those are your beliefs. Unfortunately, a few nutcases, like the Columbine trench coat mafia, have decided how you will be perceived if you choose to dress that way.

im not going to lie but if i saw someone with black nail polish n a black tee i'd probably think that he or she may be gothic or like to listen to rock n such yea i kno its sterotypical but thats just afirst impression ..but i wouldnt say they dont beleive in god.......i dont mean to think that way but its just something that comes to mind

because they are quick to make there own judgements, without doing research. People want to say and see what they want bump the truth.
