Who thinks rap and country, etc. is tastless music except rock?

I do not think by any means they are "tasteless". There are different genres even within themselves. I mean country music (classic country) not this new crap that passes. Is basically punk rock, or emo. Guys singing about loneliness drugs and booze. It's also the same slowed down 3 chord progression. Speed up old country you get punk! Now rap does have a lot of crap to it, but there are artists that do make a difference who don't worship bling, blunts and bitches their holy trio. ****** embarrassing. Don't be to harsh on old country music, listen to Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and you will know where punks came from!

Fortunately this is America and we have several radio stations. To me, Rock and Metal are the most annoying music. I can do R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rap, even instrumental and country before Rock or Metal. Then you have those Spanish stations I don't like either, but they are usually better than Rock to me. Sounds like you and I will never be listening to the same station at the same time.

The odd thing is tha Country and Rap have shared roots, the Blues. Emotional music like Rap and Country are all about telling one's story or sharing a pain. country does it through a high voval sing song, in which the pain is addressed through metaphor or ourtright. Rap chooses to paint a grittier picture of pain through harsh words, beats and references. In the end, both are forms of expression.

I think rap and most other mainstream songs are tasteless. But not rock, folk, classical, and other kinds of music. Actually it all depends on who's writing it and how much they know about the genre and good songwriting.
