I worked up in Sun Valley, Idaho the summer between high school graduation and starting college. I was on my own staying in the dorms and my roommate left two weeks after I got there so I had the room all to myself. It made it nice because I had privacy and I never had someone walk in on me when I was entertaining a female. On days off, I would go down to Ketchum and mostly window shop. Occasionally I would run up to Red Fish Lake, which I still feel is the most beautiful place on Earth. That summer so influenced me that I made a return at least once a summer over the next four years. None of those returns were as great as that summer I worked there, but it is still a magical place where I made a lot of friends and grew to be a better person.

I am a teacher so I have kept on having summer vacations as 'grown-up' and my favorite had to be the summer of 2001. My first daughter had been born that winter, and I didn't even work a part-time job that summer while I took care of her. I also spent at lot of time shopping for a car, which I love doing. But most of the time was pent watching this new life in my world grow and learn and become more beautiful every day.

Sappy, I know, but true.
