What is the conflict between them in the franchise?
Cause I saw Predator 2 and there was an alien skull and I was like wth?!

It was actually developed in comics. The idea is presented in AvP. Predators plant aliens on different planets and hunt them as part of their rite of passage. A predator has to take part in an alien hunt before they can be accepted as a part of the hunting clan.

The alien vs predator borrowed the idea from "chariots of the gods" as a superior alien race who set up pyramids on earth!

In the movie, the predeters release an Alien so they can hunt him down. As for them having anything in commen, they both smell bad.
