Most leftist liberals don't really understand how easily their beliefs translate into dictatorships like Cuba.
They actually believe living in a place like Cuba, or under Hugo Chavez in Venezuela is a good life...of course, they don't know what it is like to live without a Bill of Rights.

McCain became by no ability a fascist. he's amazingly were given fairly a average record in the Senate - nicely, for an elderly republican, that's a notably average record. He has a lengthy heritage of organising bi-partisan compromises. In 2000, he lost the accepted to Bush II for no longer be conservative /sufficient/. And Obama is only a backyard-kind welfare-state socialist. actual communists do not run for election, the lead revolutions. although, inspite of in case you probably did have a call between a fascist and a communist, the fascist continues to be the extra constructive (really a lot less negative) decision. both prefer to envision brutal oppressive states and could persecute chosen minorities and provide priviliges to the cronies of a small inner circle. yet, a minimum of there's a threat of economic enhance lower than fascism, so issues ought to no longer be that undesirable for a range of of the individuals, each and every of the time.

Exactly what did Carter do in office>How about Clinton? Oh yeah NOTHING!
I am really sick of this being a Republican VS. Democrat thing.
I have said this before many times. We have a House of Reps./Congress/Senate and our President is not our almighty ruler!
He doesn't get to just send us off to war on a whim.He can be vetoed at any time.
Our military is all for what we are doing at the moment.Unlike the dissenters here at home they are trying to do something to make it better for others. That is courage and should be honored.
I work my a** of sometimes 2 or 3 jobs to make a living in this country because even with an education white people jobs don't pay sh**! So for those of you crying about liberals and everything else that must be someones elses fault but yours get off your butt and do something about it.
VOTE get a job, join the service become a despised politician.Do something that could make a difference instead of hiding in here and pretending you care about anything but your own whinny self.

What an ignorant question. When I was in Viet Nam fighting communist back in 1966-67 I didn't see very many republican types over there. Most were back home just like that yellow-bellied, chicken-sh*t coward, George bush who made sure he didn't see any combat. The real question is why are conservative, RepubliTARDs such chicken-sh*ts, that they would let the communist take over if they had a chance. Did Ronald Reagan fight in the second world war? Also why are of the over 70 veterans of the Iraq/Afghanistan war running as Democrates and only 2 or 3 running for office as Republicans. That says more to the world than your dumb question. Veterans who face war know what it is about, not like you chicken-sh*t Republitards that won't even go off to fight for their country. Communism was stopped while the Democrats held sway in this country and by Pope John Paul II. Not by any RepubliTARDs.

Liberal Democrats are just dishonest socialists. They attack our very way of life and pose a greater risk to our freedom than any terrorist organization. They want cradle to the grave security. They want the Government to think for them because they cannot think for themselves. They want to tax the middle class to death. Interestingly enough, they themselves do not want to pay or contribute to all the social programs, but think the rich can afford it so why not? Rich to a liberal democrat is anyone with a job that pays over $10 an hour. They want social programs that you probably would never be qualified for or take advantage of anyway, even if you could.
Liberals talk out of both sides of their mouths. Tell the people what they want to hear and not what they need to hear. They will promise anything and everything just to get your vote. Once they get into office, they start stealing whatever is not nailed down. Not to say the Republicans are any better. The Reps are just the better of two evils.

Liberals, in the strict sense, are supposed to disagree with any kind of dictatorship - be it left or right. Classical Liberalism is all about individual freedom, in one's personal life and economical activity. The French expression "laissez faire" (literally translated as "let do"), which is a basic Liberal principle, refers to the free market economy. The classical Liberal stance on the "individual vs. state" match is the hippie "live and let live" saying. This is the opposite of all dictatorship and statism.
Original Liberalism is more represented in Europe than in the U.S. indeed. American Liberals/Democrats stand a notch left from European Liberal parties. US Liberalism tends to support state social intervention instead of settling with the role of a market "nightwatch". This is somehow understandable because Democrats claim that layers in the American society are too divided to ensure effective cooperation to the neediest groups' aid. In continental Europe there are strong classical left parties and so called "welfare state". That is why Liberals here only go left when a big anti-right coalition is needed. In great Britain things are like in the middle: both Left-Liberals (the Labour Party) and Classical Liberals. America's classical Liberals are the Libertarian Party. The Neocons also draw closer to traditionally Liberal stands on personal freedom and tend more left on social policy than mainstream Conservatives or extreme right wing.
Hope this helps! :)))

There's a spectrum of liberal thought. There's liberals at the center, which more or less represent the pre-60's mentality on liberalism ie before they changed their platform. Then there's the progressive side of the party that wants something like socialism. Of coarse there's liberals in between, but it's not as bad as you make it out to be.
I'd say we have some of the most tame liberals in the world, especially considering how rather conservative this nation really is.

Liberals, like all politicians, want to stay in office. They have found that they get a lot of votes by taking from the fewer, more affluent and giving the spoils to the more numerous people lower on the socioeconomic ladder. They are aware of the negative consequences, but count on a long latent period, sometimes a generation, before their bad policies cause serious harm.

Liberals do not want a totalitarian society. However, their policies do tend to leave more and more people dependent upon government. When ever people become more and more dependent upon government for their financial sustenance and for answers to their problems as oppposed to good old fashioned self-reliance, the path has become paved for totalitarianism. Afterall, in a totalitarian system, it is the tyrant who says who eats and who gets what. So when the government comes closer and closer to serving in that capacity, all that is needed is a manipulator and voilla - dictatorship. And Americans are so naive to believe that it couldn't happen here.
