Besides going see a doctor, in my experience here in the Middle East, we've found that most of these ulcers are caused by an anareobic (I think I misspelled that) bacteria, basically a bacteria that doesn't use oxygen to live. So we've been having the soldiers rinse their mouth with Hydrogen Peroxide, which can be bought just about anywhere. We have them rinse their mouths like 3 times a day, being careful not to swallow any. Works very well here. I hope it does the same to you. Again, make sure you don't swallow the peroxide. Oh, and just in case, if you want, I can email you my creditials as a paramedic. Best of luck to you........

I don't know what to put on the canker sore (mouth ulcer) but I do know that drinking buttermilk or eating yogurt will help heal it. It is a type of the chickenpox virus (and causes fever blisters---sores on the outside of the mouth around and on the lips). L-Lysene, available at a health-food store or the vitamin section of your pharmacy, walmart, etc. can be taken daily to help reduce the occurrence of these sores. If you get a fever blister, use Abreva. It is rather high in cost ($17 for a little bitty tube), but it takes only a very teensy tiny amount (about the size of the head of a straightpin) to heal the fever blister. If you use Abreva when you first feel a fever blister coming on (it will be like a slight tingling sensation on or around the lips before a bump appears in the area of the tingling.), it will prevent the blister from developing.

I know this sounds terrible but when I get an ulcer I put salt on it once a day at least for two days. It burns like crazy! but at least it will be gone by day 2. Usually it takes longer for an ulcer to heal.
Hope this helps.

I take a medication that causes dry mouth which causes me to get them occasionally. I use Listerine every time I brush my teeth. It burns a lot but seems to help heal them faster. Oragel helps numb the pain a bit. Tea Tree Oil applied directly on them helps heal faster also. You can get medications from your doctor or dentist that do help. I know what causes mine, but have you checked about yours? I read a little bit about it before I answered and it did mention being stressed, or lacking certain vitamins and minerals in your body such as folic acid and B-group vitamins or iron. Maybe since you are a vegetarian you might talk to your doctor about it. Good Luck!! Prayers

Vicky T got it partially right - go see a doctor! I would not take anyone's advice online because you do not know their qualifications. I mean no offense to Vicky, but do you know for a fact that she's a nurse? No. You can verify a doctor's credentials quickly in his office but you can't do it online. See a doctor. A pharmacist can recommend something over the counter, but anything else should be prescribed by a physician.
Good luck.
