The thing is, your freckles tan first. I have the same problem. An hour in the sun, and I'm a lobster with - you guessed it - lots of lil red freckles. And sadly there's no way to avoid that. The more sun you expose yourself to, the more freckles your skin will develop.

If you are trying to tan without burning or making the freckles worse, my best suggestion would be to spend a little time in NATURAL sunlight everyday. Walk to work or school instead of driving or whatever. If you get about an hour of sun a day, without sunscreen, you will slowly develop a healthy, natural tan that will blend more with your freckles. The freckles will get darker too, but not nearly as much as they would if you were to, say, lay in a tanning bed, or be at a beach all day.

However, nothing will ever get rid of your freckles or make them less than they are now. If you really don't want any more, then avoid the sun altogether, and forget about a tan. It's one of those sucky parts of being a pale whitey with too many freckles. -.-

I am sorry to hear you hate your freckles. I don't have any and I think they look great. I would say that you will probably always freckle in the sun. You could try using a sunblock which is supposed to block out the UV.

Sorry, but if you are prone to freckling, you will freckle from the sun. It does get better with age.
