Look at the stuff they made back then and now... disect the lyrics and rhythm and vocal. Compare Rage Against The Machine and NWA songs to the TI or Mike Jones. Also Tupac and T Payne. AC/DC to My Chemical Romance, Poison to Used. Look at pop, rock, punk, and rap mainstream vs. the other stuff. Good Charlotte and The Click 5 and 30 Seconds To Mars to Sex Pistols and The Clash.

I know what you mean, man, I really do.

EVERYTHING sucks these days & still people are buying into it.

WHY?!

Whatever happened to REAL bands like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd?

You know, REAL musicians with REAL talent, who didn't get by for just being "sexy" or "hip".

Music has essentially just become one big Fashion Show & Popularity Contest now, & it's not even about the music anymore.

Everyone that ever really made a song worth listening to is either dead or retired now.

I can't believe that there is no one out there that can be half as talented as Roger Waters or Jimmy Page.

You'd think that living in an era with so many historic icons to refer to, that "Musicians"(& I use this term loosely) today could come up with something better than "Pop my junk, pop my junk, pop my junk..." a million times over & over overtop of a really unimpressive back-beat.

Whatever happened to music with REAL substance or REAL wieght?

It's gone to Hell, & Rap & Modern Pop is what sent it there.

Rock music died along with Kurt Cobain. If you notice that is when things started going downhill. Metallica sold out, Pantera started breaking up, Alice In Chains couldn't stay off the smack, Van Halen stopped doing anything. In fact, the hottest concert tickets was not from new music it was from bands like the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and The Eagles. People would rather pay several hundred dollars to go see some old people who are losing their voices and aren't as entertaining as they once used to be rather than go see Good Charolette or whoever.

In fact, I think that rock music is so dead right now that they are resorting to things like the Warped Tour where they need like 350 bands playing at one venue in order to attract people to come to the show.

That's not to say that there isn't any good rock music out there. It's just no where near the level of old Metallica, Pantera, White Zombie, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, etc.

But I disagree about rap music. There's still Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Outkast, Kanye West, and on and on. Granted there are some really lame rappers out there and some EXTREMELY annoying songs. But there is still some really good rap being made.
