$35.00 and up (an hour) sounds about right for a small independant studio. Sometimes you can get a special deal on a time block at certain hours. You may even find a special price for a "per song(s)" deal like i did. For about $200.00 , i went to a local studio where i used to live , and did a 4 song demo , and me and my band went in and spent all day there. If you're gonna go "On the clock" though , make sure time is not started until everything is set up and ready to go , that time isn't being counted until you hit that first note, some studios want to include setup on the time sheet , which is never fair....

My friend who's a producer charges at least a few hundred dollars to record one song in his studio. But the recordings are really high quality and most of the cost is for the hard drive the song is stored on. He says the average cost in the mainstream music business is $150 per hour.

Well, my son owns a studio, and he charges by the hour. that i about $35.00 an hour.
Other studios charge over $55.00 and over.
Try to find out where you can record for very low prices, some people have their own personal studio which they charge very cheap.

any "universal" sounding abode studio is gonna value upwards of a million-5 grand or greater. you will choose solid studio video demonstrate gadgets, sound proofing the room, mics, an iso sales area, and a place to create the grasp copies. All in all, abode studios arent much less costly, yet they're well worth it in the long-term.
