I know about the holocaust and I know some about Jewish history in the region. But why did we think that gave us the right to take over the region and create Israel. This seems like remnants of colonialistic arrogance. Also a form of neo-crusading to see that we have some influence and friends in the holy land. I'm sure I'm taking a simplictic view of it, but I am so sick of the middle east problems. It seems like that area is the source of all the US / Muslim problems and the cause of islamic extremists.

1. A few scattered people?? Why are there so many palestinian refugees then?
2. If Hitler killed jews why do we take arabs land then. Maybe we should have handed over Germany to the Jews.
3. Brain-washed? I think you could say the same about crusaders (old and new) who run off to fight for christian holy land. I wonder if our creating Israel their had alterior motives for regaining some control of that area.
4. Just because a race has a historical tie to an area doesn't mean it should be their's thousands of years later.

Just simple sense to me...noone's answer has convinced me otherwise. And btw I am a white american with nothing against Jewish people....just sick of the fighting.

Israel was created because the british gave a supporting hand the Zionistist, and given that they have an amazing way of making the world see things the way they want it, they got what they wanted and that was their Promised Land. But unlike what one mentined, the Territory involved was in fact Palestine and not just some territory flaoting around waiting for Israel to be established. The Jewish were their first, that is true the Jewish were there before any other book religion, but keep in mind, that palestine is a wholly land for all three book religions, it might be the promised land of the jews as their book says, but it in also the place of birth of Jesus, and so is it a wholly place for muslims. Everyone is saying, go read and get educated before talking. Every single one of you should do that before talking as well. There is no right and wrong. There is only Power, and Israel was simply established because powerful enteties took that decision. We have elders that talk to us about days where muslims, christians and Jews lived together as Palestinians, or Lebanease, or Syrians, or any other nationality. Religion isn't a state. People belong to the territory they live in, and noone has to right to take that away from them. But that doesn't mean that History doesn't take it's course the way it does. Sadly it has proven to have taken damaging decisions. But all what has happened doens't matter. What matters in now. What matters is the objective of each country, each group... the objective of movements, and that is what we should be scared about, because all that is happening right now, is only creating more extremists. And that is the worse that anyone can do.

I also want to say something to Mr. Acrehead .... You should be the one that watches what is saying. There is something so beautiful about being Human, and that is having the ability to have respect to any other Human being. You are lacking tremendously on that front. You should be very careful when generalising things. And should be very careful when you use the word Arab. Because If you understood what "Arab" is, if you went and read like you are asking others to do, then you will sleep much less stupid tonight, and maybe one day you can become much less racist.

Ok now stick with me on this one. Open up a Bible to the old testament and read from Genesis through 1st and 2nd Kings. That will pretty much be the history of Israel as a nation. Wether you believe in god or not. Now as to why Israel is a nation today...Because in 1948 nobody wanted the Jews around. Every Nation hated them. Not just the Nazis. The Nazis were just the only nation to try to resolve this "Jewish epidemic" by mass murder. Every nation including America and Russia (see the movie Fiddler on the Roof) did not want the Jews anymore. So what did we do. We carved them out a piece of land that was theirs from history and said here have it. That piece of land just so happens to include the most 2 holiest sites in all of Christianity and the Muslim world. "Temple Mount and where King Solomons temple originally was is the exact same place" So that is why everybody is still fighting. They are fighting over GOD.

Why? Are you kidding me? Because Moses brought us from Egypt to the Land of Israel! Yes, the Philistines were there first, but G-d gave us that land! Also, five thousand years ago, there was no Islam and the Muslims that now occupy Palistinian territory were Hindu. The Koran stated they were Pagans because of the Arabic translation. This has been proven by theological historians.

Eretz Yisroel for B'Nai Yisroel!

I had to edit my response to add this for AK-
You are one of the most ignorant Arabs I have ever seen on Answers, and thats saying alot. It wasn't the British, the fort Zionist movement of the 20th Century was around the 1920's. The Palistinians SOLD their property in Israel to th Israeli's. When you go sell your car, and haven't used it for years, you decide to go back and take it, it is theft. They sold their land to the Israeli's, then most of the Palistinians who cashed out moved to either the US or Jordan ergo the "displaced Palistinian", boo hoo! It was the educated Palistinians that left since they ahd property to sell.

Let's be real about the situation in the Middle East, it's about real estate, politics, and money. The religious aspect of it is there but not the deciding factor.

Oh, yeah, and Acerhead has a point. The majority of the Islamic community is uneducated. Do you think it is the wealthy, educated Muslims out there fighting your battle? Nope! It is the poorer, uneducated ones, lead to believe since they are below the poverty line, the only way to help their families and go to "Jennah" is to be marytered so their family can a) have financial help for the rest of their lives and b) will be guranteed their place with 70 virgins.

We didn't create Israel. The UN did...the World political body. At the time, there was no country formed in that area...it was just a territory with a few scattered people in it.

I think you need to read the full history behind the formation of Israel before you start jumping to conclusions and assigning blame.

You need to be educated first. Learn something about your topic before you vent an opinion.

Hitler and his bunch of terrorists killed six million Jews!

The Arabs of the world are a bunch of non educated human beings that have been brainwashed for centuries. They are warriors. They have been taught to hate everyone including killing their own!
