I agree with your assessment of a week to a month for the price to hit $100/barrel. And, quite honestly, I don't know which is better/worse ... military force or diplomacy. We've tried both. Are we winning the war on terror? I don't know. Can we give up now? NO! I think that we are fighting an enemy whose mind we still cannot understand. Terrorists are a different breed from your "usual" soldier. Nothing is sacred to them. All non-Muslims are infidels who should be wiped off the face of the earth. If we don't use force we'll be in bigger trouble. Israel isn't listening. Hamas and Hezbollah couldn't care less what the US wants. The escalation has begun. We are on our way (quickly) to WWIII. The price of a barrel of oil won't matter much when we're all dead.

The U.S. Treasury is getting ready to switch out the gold bars at Fort Knox for barrels of the black stuff.
Get Ready.

Its tough enough now, I drive a friggin Pontiac Sunfire (gets great gast milage) and it still costs me $40.00 to fill it up when its really empty..not so great for a struggling college kid trying to make it bye. Metro Detroit, Mi: Avg. Gas Price (Unleaded): $3.07

so long as the demand is there the price will keep going
up. if we would all drive less, slow down, and keep all
our machines tuned up that would help a lot. oh yes,
and next winter turn down our thermostats a bit and
wear heavier clothing.
