I wouldn't take them to 1/2 price books. I went there, with a big box of brand new, hardcover books. Many of them I paid $35+ a piece for. They didn't even look at the books, just offered $10 for the whole box. But, when they sell the books, they sell them for half price. Total jip!!!
Amazon is good, but you won't sell as fast. I tried to sell a few things on Amazon, if you're just a one-time seller, or a seller who doesn't sell very often, it's really not worth it.
I like ebay best. It helps you research what your asking price should be, gives you info on what the average price sold for each item is - not to mention that you can choose how many days you want your auction/buy it now auction to run. I own an ebay clothing store, but I do sell quite a bit of books on there.

If they are books from school ie. math book etc... you can usually sell them back to the school for a fraction of what you bought them for, or you can find someone taking the same class next year and sell it to them for like 20 bucks less than the school. Other than that online works.

At the college bookstore where you purchased them. The only problem is that sometimes they are not using some of your books next semester - then you could try selling to a used book store.

If there is a 'best' place to 'sell back' your books it will be the place you bought them!

unless its a collectible you wont get much for them.
I donate them to public libraries, where they sell them a t a modest price or use them in the library.
Senior homes, school libraries etc. will sometimes take books too.

if you live in a college town, most of the bookstore on campus will be willing to buy the book from you.... no matter what condition its in.... as long as it is still useable
