None of the answers so far are totally correct. Joe Namath played at Alabama in the Mid '60s.
In the late '60s Kenny Stabler and Scott Hunter shared quarterback duties at Alabama. Kenny Stabler won a Super Bowl at Oakland and Scott Hunter is in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
A Super Bowl Ring and The Packers Hall of Fame is brillant enough for me.

There is only one that had what I would call a brilliant career and that was Joe Namath. Ken Stabler was good but unlike Namath - he never won a Super Bowl, he is not in the Hall of Fame, his post season record is not that good and he only went to a couple Pro Bowls.
