And if so, does that not render the very word in question meaningless? And would not words like 'honesty' and 'integrity' consequently be equally nonsensical?

Don't you remember from Star Wars... truth is dependant upon one's point of view.

So by truth not being an absolute, honesty and integrity can be subjective as well. A thief might consider himself honest because he can justify his acts. A politician might consider himself to have integrity because he committed past transgressions for a reason.

I wouldn't say that those phrases are nonsensical, but they certainly are not absolutes because they are, by nature, subjective.

It depends on what you consider Truth to mean. If you say truth = fact, then no, truth is not subjective. But if you ask me, "Do you like me? And tell the truth." and I say yes even though deep deep down I don't, then did I tell the truth?

Space is cold. That is the truth. But space isn't cold if you're in a heated spacesuit.

Truth has to be topic specific and nailed down to details. Generalities and truth do not go together very well. Example. Grass is green. Well is that always true? What if it's dead? And I've seen blue grass before. But even if you said, "Most grass is green." you'd still be on shaky ground. Is most grass actually green? Much of the grass plant is underground, the roots are brown. So without defining what you consider truth to be, there is no answer to your question.

And that's the truth.

No the word truth is a noun. In order for it to be subjective is to make it objective, or adding descriptive adjectives to it.
Why do you think the truth hurts? Just more food for thought.
Or the truth will set you free.
Truth or consequences.

Truth? no. But human perception is subjective. So for all intents and purposes, no matter how hard we strive for truth, we should always take it with a grain of salt because we so often see what we want to see. But I also believe that, eventually, after our deaths, we will be able to see objective truth and realize how full of **** we were on this earth. I personally can hardly wait. If I'm kidding myself in some way, I want to know about it.

good question. because each person has their own perspective, based on personal beliefs and experiences, a truth for one may not be for another. each persons' view of honesty and integrity is based the same way. i believe that part of the reason we are even on the planet is to seek truth, and be aware of it, as it resonates within us. it may look a little different to each person, but if we share our truth, as it is, in love, and be honest and have integrity, as respecters of others, there is more joy and peace. that doesn't seem nonsensical to me.

Truth is epistemic. It's domain is veracity, the veridical, the Real. If reality is Ideal, then it's not meaningless. Of course if reality is "Objective" -- and you presuppose it to be so, then you will think subjective truth meaningless.

Which leads to absurdities like: When I say "I SEE spots in my field of vision" you will say, no you don't, but you think you do.

"This hand is in front of me" -- oh, well how do you know, for instance, that you're not dreaming? If you can''t determine that you're not dreaming, you have no basis to the truth.

Your opinion, my opinion...both are subjective, and ok.. for me. A dictionary which technique of the be conscious "subjective" is only a broadcast version of an opinion of the which technique of the be conscious or maybe per chance a lot less in route of the reality afterall it truly is subjective.

I absolutely believe that truth is subjective. Each person has their own truths and reality that they exist within. Conflict comes when people's idea of truth and reality clash.
