What is "English?"
When we look at the ethnic make-up of England, we see that it was inhabited by Neolithic peoples, who were replaces/amalgamated with the Celts when they came through with the Indo-European invasion. After the Roman era, the Celts were invaded from the north by the Teutons (the Norse, or Vikings) and to get protection they asked for various Germanic tribes to come and defend them. Instead the Germanics came in and drove the Celts to the coast, where they can be found today.
As for Americans, 1/5 of the genetic make-up is German. The vast majority are of Wester-European descent, or were until fairly recently.
With a the Mexicans and Latinos coming up, a LOT more Native blood is making its way back. Only 100,000 Europeans ever came to the area known today as Mexico; the population of the Natives was estimated to be (at the least) nine million. Even if 45% of them were wiped out, the total "White" blood (assuming wach of these 100,000 people had childrenw ith an Indian) would be about two-tenths of a percent.
Mexicans ARE Indian, whether they choose to admit it or not.

I don't know. Most Americans who have been here for at least several generations tend to be "mutts" rather than "purebreds." America is called the great mixing pot for a reason.
I know I have English ancestry, but I also have a lot of other nationalities in me too. I imagine there are a lot of Americans, of all different colors, who can say the same.

Maybe yes. But, do not forget there are many people in this country whose ancestry is German, Scottish, Welsh and Irish too. Then, there are minorities who come from African slaves, Latino, Asian and other European immigrants. The false idea of "The Melting Pot" is that: False and fake...It is just a simple idea to make people think this is the world people's land. Actually, there is NO integration at all. Every group has a corner...

I always found it ironic that American racists like the KKK reffered to themselves as Anglo Saxon, when there was probably little English blood in them.
Then again, any American who chooses to call himself Anglo-Saxon is wont to irritate me, as we Englishmen and them are poles apart these days.
